If I could teach...

The World to sing...what song would it be?

The title is the question posed to me in a volunteer application I'm going to fill out for the Duluth Greenman festival this July so I can avoid the $75 charge for tickets and hang out with some crazy people on that particular weekend. I'm not sure exactly what my answer will be...it might even be one of the featured artists at the festival, Mason Jennings and his song Adrian. You can find it and the lyrics at www.masonjennings.com.

It's Friday at 2:00pm so naturally I'm drinking an Amber Bock one of my (apparently) good beer hating friends left here...no, correction, for Friday at 2:00 pm when I'm not working and getting paid for this "holiday" it tastes damn fine. I just finished putting the groceries away, picking up my dirty clothes, and vaccummed the apartment for the first time since my roommate and I have moved in....come to think of it,, I still don't think that girl has ever done the dishes...but living with me and my bikes has got to be a chore enough. It isn't any coincidence that I feel motivated to do these things on the same day that I'm expecting a visitor who has largely been the subject of my blogs and poetry recently....well, more than recently. So I running on anxiousness in preparation for their arrival tonight....and I'm SUPER excited.

I finished my application to City Pages...the Minneapolis city paper and am eagerly awaiting a response. I'm not exactly sure what I'd do if they actually offered me a job...I really just applied to see how good I actually am...hopefully this entry is no reflection of my actual skills. So I'll keep you guys posted on what comes of this...or, what doesn't.

I applied for a second summer job last week as well and hopefully that one will turn out. It's a park attendant position where I basically have to walk the grounds and make sure people aren't causing any trouble. Supervision and policy enforcement have been a steady part of my occupational life since it began....no wonder I have no regard for traffic laws when I'm biking....gotta keep a balance. I do hope this works out though since I just paid over $300 to have my POS car fixed and the added income could keep me on a steady path of paying off my student loans and opening up new possibilities.

Otherwise I think I'm going to hop on my new bike and head over to the place I bought it at and get a few adjustments before I take it downtown to tear it up a little bit. It's cold and ugly outside so a late afternoon nap would probably be splendid as well. I'm sure I forgot something, but that's about the gist of it. Hope y'all have a good holiday...secular or otherwise.

Peace,
Suspeckt

Ted,
I'm really happy that you and your guest found each other. And, yeah, a little jealous. But why? Of whom? I don't know. Maybe I'm just jealous of the fact that you've each found someone that makes you feel the way you obviously do. Anyway, hope your weekend is wonderful!

I'm going to steal that question for a paper I have to write for the Optimist Club Scholarship. :)
