Throwback Entertainment Cleans Out Acclaim

Acclaim Entertainment has managed to sell off some more of its properties, nearly two years after the firm claimed Chapter 7 bankruptcy in September 2004. Toronto-based publisher Throwback Entertainment has dropped an undisclosed amount for the rights and interest in multiple titles of varying popularity. Titles include Gladiator: Sword of Vengeance, Vexx, Legends of Wrestling, Extreme-G Racing, Re-Volt and Summer Heat Volleyball.
Throwback CEO Thomas Maduri said the following: "Acquiring the Acclaim titles provides a significant addition to our company, and will allow us to target different markets and opportunities."
"Acclaim Entertainment was responsible for the creation of some wonderful original games, and unfortunately couldn’t see them through their lifecycle. We are very pleased to have been afforded the opportunity to take these titles through the next generation, and onwards."
Throwback did not mention any plans for the titles but Maduri added "many of the titles have all the elements required to establish franchises. With new services broadening the reach of games, Throwback will be well positioned for the expansion of the franchises."
