The site should be working fine now. It may have a hiccup here or there over the next couple of days, but it should be nice and smooth sailing from here.

Mostly interested in:
1. Defiant
2. NX-01
3. Miranda
4. Constitution
5. TMP Enterprise
6. Excelsior
7. Ambassadore
8. Galaxy

Thank You

Download isn't working--it goes to http://localhoststmod/STBETAMOD/StarTrekBetaV3.exe.

Have you guys looked into getting a mirror for the download?

Thanks for the headup Kryo - not yet actually, we are in the middle of updating a lot of things, looks like this file is just gone, could of been me during updates I can get carried away, but thats pretty bad to delete our own mod... We'll have StarTrek Beta 4 up soon though.

Any idea of a good mirror site for the mod?

You might want to talk to Drengin and see if he'll host it at the core. It would probably be a good idea to break up the mod into multiple files (data, models, several movie packs, etc) though in any case, to make it easier to download.

Kryo---I don't mean to be out of line---but maybe Stardock could host something for mods that are bigger---after all it is something that is done by fans of the galciv game---and maybe someone would be less likely to hack the site without consequences from stardock

[personal opinion mode on]

While I can't speak for the company, officially hosting a mod like this would bring with it a boatload of potential liabilities, since it makes generous use of Paramount properties. So I personally doubt that would ever happen.

I definately see the point on that Kryo - though Transformers and Bab5 are both up on the library (not hosted, but pictured and linked) - but I know Paramount can be a tad bit more iffy to say the least....

We've been trying to be good sports about it and fully understand and appreciate this sticky a lot, at times it just seems that SD kind of has favors still towards the old ST Mod team that was around and I guess some of us

My main thing is that our site was hacked a few times and it really bothered me when I saw someone else supported and added to the stardock team that I felt may have been involved on our misfortune due to our split from as he likes to say "the first team"---yeah thats what it led too---we tried to be adult about the whole thing but it seems lately we have been slapped in the face by the postings of frogboy supporting such an individual!

Nothing was ever proven knight, and we shouldn't be putting any type of allegations or things on this site or forum. Its over, and we've had pretty smooth sailing recently.

And SD was never responsible for what happened, nor did they know both sides of any story between the team splitting way back when. Please keep this post clean so people don't mistake personal thought from Mod Team thought.

I understand what you are saying thats why I didn't post that particular persons name--I'll let others draw their own conclusion.

I think you already put the picture as complete as you could. No worries, please lets just drop it, at least from this post Knight.

The transformers mod uses a few pictures from assorted sources, but nothing worse than half the other mods on the library.

I don't recall approving the B5 mod myself (I probably wouldn't have, since it's just a link and not an actual mod of any kind anyway), but it's not up to me to second-guess whoever did.

On the other hand, the single-ship-model ST mods are up there right alongside their B5 counterparts, since they are all completely fan-made replicas and don't contain anything directly from the telivision shows (like video clips), AFAIK.

at times it just seems that SD kind of has favors still towards the old ST Mod team that was around

I personally know nothing about the problems between the ST mod teams, aside from that there was one group and it split. I don't know who is in which or what they did to cause the split. I stickied the most popular mods' threads so people could find them easier, but that's about it. If you think something should be done differently, by all means email me about it. Please do not try to start an argument here.

Fellas, how does one download the beta 3 installer? It keeps redirecting to localhost.

If you guys need help getting this site going stable, lemme know. I have some free time I would be willing to donate.

If you need a mirror... Rapidshare.com, MegaUpload.com, hell - fileforum.betanews.com might host it, not sure what their limit is. There are a bunch of others. I run a server and have about 600gb of spare bandwidth a month, but I wouldnt be willing to host the entire 1.gb file. If you want to split up the packs I would be willing to mirror one to four.

If you break the mod up into smaller pieces, I would be more than happy to host it on TBSModder.

Macmatt and I were talking on IRC earlier. Using 7zip (great FREE archiver) you can archive the installer into several smaller 'parts'. Which could then be posted on rapidshare or some such. You then can use 7z to recombine the 'parts' and extract the installer. Also consider using HSplit/Join.

Hey Guys,

Thanks for all the support and advise. We are working on several things right now, as well as to why it won't let anyone download. I have word it may be 1and1 and they have been contacted. Along with that we will be releasing a new version soon, and we will split them up. We'll continue to have a big version, as well as a smaller version. I'm gathering information on how I can use a php script to make it randomly pick a different mirror. We hope to have this all going by the beginning of next week.
