The Purpose Driven Life--My Thoughts
Chapter One--It All Starts With God

The first full paragraph of this chapter, and I knew I was going to have to change my thinking on life, and the way I live it: "The purpose of your life is far greater than your own personal fulfillment, your peace of mind, or even your happiness. It's far greater than your family, your career, or even your wildest dreams and ambitions. If you want to know why you were placed on this planet, you must begin with God. You were born by His purpose and for His purpose."
Now, I've been a Christian for a long time...sometimes a more serious committed one than others....but I've always thought that it was up to me to determine my life 's path based on what I believed my purpose was.....not according to that paragraph, though.....definitely the wrong approach.
What it comes down to, according to chapter one, are these three points:
1) You discover your identity and purpose through a relationship with Jesus Christ.
2) God was thinking of you long before you ever thought about Him. His purpose for your life predates your conception. He planned it before you existed, without your input. (This rings of predestination, which I've always been on the fence about , so I don't know if I fully believe this statement or not!)
3) The purpose of your life fits into a much larger, cosmic purpose that God has designed for eternity.
I have a feeling this book is going to expand my horizons and I hope it will change my life for the better. More tomorrow, with Chapter Two:You Are Not An Accident.
