Dark Avatar buying options

Direct Debit Cards

Considering that many europeans don't use Credit Cards that often I was wondering (probably in vain) if SD would be willing to add a Direct Debit Card option to their buying schemes for Dark Avatar.

That way they'd really capitalize on the European market.

there's a little discussion on this on the NeotechGaming forums as well:

I'm sorry I don't have an answer to your question, but the more replies there are the more likely you'll get one. I just want to say that I live in Europe, and while dissappointed that the EP is DD only, I would at least like it to be made more accesible to our fair and peaceful continent

The link works fine(or what do you mean?). See also this thread in the Dark Avatar sub-forum on the same subject. Edit: Ok, the linked thread was originally about a slightly different topic, but I kind of hijacked it *cough*...

We want Direct Debit!!! Most of us europeans do not wish and cannot pay with credit cards. And just a game expansion is not convincing enough to go through the trouble of getting a CC in europe. Please.. we beg you! find some way we can simply pay through our bank accounts.

Direct Debit as in an electronic withdrawal from your bank account (not via a card that is, AKA e-cheque)? At least in the US, you generally debit via a debit card which is functionally identical to a credit card. For example, I use a Visa Cheque Card, which is treated exactly like a Visa Credit Card, so I can use it anywhere.

In the UK they get treated almost alike... but I can't pay with my Debit Card for the Dark Avatar Expansion... or I would have pre-ordered it allready... I guess I'll just have to wait untill the final release and hope they'll accept some form of payment I can use

I second ThijsK !
In germany we are all used to do a simple giro transfer - its cheap and no weird security risks like id-theft of credit cards.

My super-secret-money-making-hint for stardock:

open an account in germany and watch the accountbalance go insane

i'd also like to use DD, i use it for everything else here in germany and i dont want to get another card just for the expansion ...

Direct Debit is not the same as a debit card. DD is where you authorise a company to take funds directly from your bank account on a regular basis. It requires 14 days notice before the transaction is made and it takes 3 working days to clear. A debit card on the other hand is functionally the same as a credit card as someone mentioned but depending on the financial processing system in use it may not support the debit card prefixes. Every card that is issued has a prefix that is used to automatically determine the card type. E.g ANY card beginning with 4917 is a VISA Electron card. I suspect that it is a lack of support for these prefixes that is the problem here but if someone from SD could clarify it would be great...

yes Quinnf I think it's a lack of support for those prefixes.... however DirectDebit would be a nice way to go as well...

It looks to me like they accept paypal. You don't need a credit card for that, just a bank account. My paypal is linked to my checking, so that's how I plan to pay for Dark Avatar. (I don't live in Europe, but I've payed for stuff on ebay that came from people in Europe using paypal)

Last I checked, you still need to have a credit or debit card in order to pay via PayPal, as Stardock requires your paypal account to have a "confirmed address". And the only way PayPal will confirm your address is if you add a card to the account with the same billing address as your PayPal account's address.
