Edit ToolBar not displaying properly in tabbed New Post dialog

Smiley selector kaput, too

Since the recent redesign, the toolbar with the editing tools is not displaying correctly - the buttons are getting the button face color superimposed on the bar graphic & it looks very slapdash, as Eddie would say.  The Font & Size controls display correctly, but their drop-down buttons don't get skinned anymore (which seems a tad ironic).  Also can't get the Smiley selector to work.  True for XP & Win2k, IE & Firefox (actually looks worse in IE/XP).

The reply above was made with the smiley 'menu' in the new editor in IE. It's a known issue that it's not functioning properly in Firefox at the moment. The font and size dropdown buttons arent supposed to be skinned, as theyre not traditional dropdowns, but generated elements. The rest of the cosmetic issues are just that, cosmetic, and don't effect the use of the editor in any way. They'll be addressed in due time.

Thanks for the feedback, Andrew.  I obviously didn't test the smiley selector in IE.  FWIW, the blinking text cursor doesn't show up in the editor window, either, even if you click in it, until you start typing.  That's no big deal, just a new behavior that throws you a little off stride at first.

I understand the edit tools all "work."  I'm sure you'll get around to fixing them up.  It seems a tad ironic that a site devoted to skinning dismisses "cosmetic" issues, though, don't ya think?  LOL

No one is dismissing cosmetic issues. We have to prioritize which issues are addressed first. That's all.

No need to get defensive, andrew - just a little ribbing.  I'm with ya & woulda used a smiley if I could have - had to settle for the LOL.

You guys do great work with limited resources & I was only trying to be of some modest help.

Take care.

I may have spoken prematurely, andrew - at least some of the editing tools appear not to work in FF (in addition to the smiley selector).  Here's a test post:

This should be size 5

These all work in the preview window.

Interesting.  Reply number 6 had four other lines in it before hitting the Post Comment button:

This should be bold

This should be italic

This should be blue

This should be underlined

They were formatted in the preview window but they disappeared.

OK.  I'll set IETab to load WC with IE for now.

Hello Daiwa. The above comment was made using firefox 1.5.0.4 with the editor that you are using. As you can see, all formatting was applied correctly. If you're still experiencing problems, please let us know what browser and version you are using along with steps to reproduce. Thanks.

Interesting.

I'm using FF 1.5.0.4 also, Modern Pinball 1.5.1 theme.  The only extensions I'm using are IETab, RoboForm & FoxyTunes.  WB 5.01e[b].009.  XP SP2.

No steps to reproduce needed, just post a comment.

The above was Dark-Star posting with a utility account under the latest firefox with the same editor. Try as we might, we just cannot reproduce the issue. If you figure out what might be happening, I would really appreciate the help.

Perhaps some step-by-step screenshots? Perhaps there's something visual that will give me a clue as to what is going on.

I'm not sure what visual would help, andrew.  I just open a thread like this and start typing in the Add Your Comment: window.

I'll then select some text & apply the attribute.

It shows correctly within the Add Your Comment: window, just not when the post is displayed.

Even more interesting.  The text I selected & formatted didn't appear at all in #19, but the Smiley showed up, even though some text to the left of it did not.

Here's what it looked like before I highlighted the text & formatted it:

One thing I did differently is actually select a font face for the text I formatted after typing it.  The font dropdown box defaults to just "Font" and the size dropdown defaults to just "Size" - is there a setting I should make in my profile or something?  Seems the old system "remembered" your default text preferences.

When I view this thread in IE, as soon as I click in the Add Your Comment: window the font dropdown changes to Verdana & the size dropdown changes to 2.

It doesn't do that when I'm in FF - they continue to display "Font" & "Size".  Maybe that will help?

Well I've asked for a screenshot of your editing in process. I'll need that to move ahead with helping you.
