Electronic Arts has made another purchase this week, this time in the form of an MMO developer. Mythic Entertainment, creators of Dark Age of Camelot and the upcoming Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning MMO will be acquired by EA and re-dubbed EA Mythic. The soon-to-be wholly-owned subsidiary will be dedicated to creating MMOs for the world's largest third party publisher.
The acquisition will also change some job titles, seeing Mark Jacobs, the President, Chief Executive Officer and co-founder of Mythic, becoming Vice President, General Manager of EA Mythic and Rob Denton, the Vice President, Chief Operating Officer and co-founder of Mythic will assume the role of Vice President, Chief Operating Officer of EA Mythic. Mythic's 175-person development team will remain in Fairfax, Virginia but the topic of continued support for Dark Age of Camelot has not been discussed.
