The Beautiful game vs. The Beautiful game

For the past 10 days or so, the World Cup of the beautiful game, football, has been taking place in Deutschland. Due to the time difference between Germany and Australia, the earliest games are televised at the time i usually spend playing Galciv. Has anyone been having the same dilemma as me, that is, having to choose playing a beautiful game or watching the beautiful game?

That is all.

Yeah, and i have to prepare my exams too, so that I can't really watch all the matches. I saw the second half of Brasil-Australia yesterday, you guys deserved at least a draw!

Today Spain-Tunez!, i hope they play as good as against Ukrania. No time difference problem here thou

The final game of the day finishes at about 10pm in the uk. plenty of time to crush drengins after that.

I'm lucky, my graphics card died (we all know, GalCiv2 killed it, don't we?).

So while I'm having problems with the parcel service that lost my replacement, I have a lot of time watching football. I'm also living in Germany, so I hope my new card will arrive as soon as we are world champion again (sorry Brazil, sad enough Argentina!), until then there's not much time playing GalCiv anyhow

BTW, the Australian team was a real surprise to me. Things were short against Brazil and I hope they will keep up fighting with heart and soul and beat Crotia to qualify for the finals.

Tell me about it.
I work in a lab from 6am-6pm and ESPN2 doesnt have reruns. So i dont get to watch any, except weekend matches.
BTW USA vs Italy... who let these reffs in.... its like anytime you fell down, it was a yellow.
Another thing, the lab i work in, 1/2 of us are Polish so when the Polish vs Germany game was on we kept taking brakes to check the score. When the 90th min. turned around and it was still tie we thought it was over and did alittle celibration, you know magnessium in the bunsin burner. Well needless to say we were all disapointed the next day when it turns out germany scored in the 91st min.

I've taken to playing Galciv during halftime and between the games. Don't get a lot accomplished on it, but at least I get to do both. What has been suffering is my productivity at work... I really haven't done anything since the world cup started...

In my case, to get our cable modem to work, the cable company had to take my computer room's cable line off of the signal amplifier, resulting in random blocks of stations which simply don't show up on my television -- including, needless to say, ESPN and ESPN2.

So my case is even worse: I have to choose between World Cup football or using my computer at all, whether for GalCiv or for, well, posting messages to the GalCiv forums.

(On the other hand, I finally got my Radeon All-In-Wonder 9600 fully working again after Windows Update blew away the TV tuner, which means that I can use it to watch the games, albeit with a crappy picture because of the aforementioned signal amplifier problem. And I'm TiVo'ing like crazy on our ReplayTV, and downloading the matches to our hard drives and burning them to backup DVDs as fast as I can. Don't know for sure when I'll get around to watching all of those other matches, but at least I've got them)

For those who want to watch it live with low-bandwidth:

Of course this does not beat watching a match live in a stadium or having a notebook and a large TV to watch and play at the same time. But it will do nicely when at work.

I have an easy solution, have your computer in the same room as a tv!

I have the world cup on all the time while playing GC2. The number of GC2 turns played determines how exciting the football was, the Italy vs USA has rated as the most exciting so far...

C'mon England, C'mon England...

Roooooneeeeeeeeeey...

Soccer.. HAH!!! nothing more fruity than a bunch of men in daisy dukes bumping crotches "pretending" to get the ball. Unless your french.. now that in itself is fruitier than fruit loops...

Before you go all anti-american... I was just kidding bout the soccer/futbol joke, not the french one. Anyways, I WAS suppose to go to Germany and watch the world cup, but a few of my friends bailed out on me. Didn't want to go alone, might end up in some VunderSex house and... *shivers* ever seen Eurotrip. *shivers*

So, who's ur team? Kinda going for Germany since 1/4th of me is German. the 1/4 above the knee & below the waist. HAHA

Born in Croatia, live in Australia...in hindsight, choosing between glaciv and football isn’t the most difficult decision ill face this week. On the bright side, exams are over, so the daytime is free for gaming .

That is all.

I'm from Croatia too...

I watch some of the games, not all, but if I start to watch them, I can't stop... hehe
Both Australia and Croatia got their ass kicked by Brasil...
Zlatko Cico Kranjcar is to blame that we didn't score against Japan; last 15 minutes of the game was crazy!
