Class 0 planets in 3 sectors all turned into class 14

the AI does not seem to recognize the importance of this

Playing on a gigantic metaverse game today , I was allied with everyone but the drengin whom were at ar with me and all my allies and loosing bad .then A event happens in terran teritory that makes all planets that are class 0 in like 3 sectors all turn into class 14 . well the AI did not seem to see the importance of this and I managed to colonize about 50 planets in just 10 turns or so . i went from 5th in population to having more population than all civs combined because the AI did not seem concerned. Should they have been? I am not sure because on the 15th turn from that event the drengin surrendered to me anyway and I won by diplomatic victory.
I believe this event should be removed . as it benefits the player much more than the computer players . or at least make the AI value colonizing more in the late game . just because of that one event I had like 12 planets of various races rebel and join my empire

I had this happen on my current game. About 3 or 4 solar systems in the Terran area all went to PQ 13. I started building colony ships like crazy and colonized all but about 3 of the new planets. The AI was very slow to take advanage of the new planets even though playing on Tough. This event can make a game a little more interresting and will probably enable me beat the Terran via culture victory. Does anybody know if your final score for Metaverse is affected by how much time you take to win? I ran into a fleet of Pirate ships yesterday. They will kick your butt if you don't overwhelm them with fire power. What bugs me is that I have concentrated on reseaching missiles through out this game and have beat 3 AI's with this stragedy . This games is well along and the AI knows what I have been doing to them and has yet to deploy any point defense on their ships.

Time used to be a considerate, however it was reported that it was removed for 1.2

As for the pirate fleet.... They are easy to get rid of and improve your standing in the universe at the same time!! How you ask?? i will tell you

When you 'stumble' upon the pirate fleet turn tail and run for the nearest AI's ship. hopefully this ship will be close to one of his worlds, go straight past the AI ship and the pirate fleet will disengage you and engage the AI
used this tactic many a time and it works even better if the AI has a few ships around his planet as they, and any in the docks will launch to intercept..

See weaken the AI's and then move in for the kill!!!!

Next time I'll let the AI tangle with the Pirate Fleet. Nice suggestion. The Acean in my current game have started responding to my massive missiles ships by deploying point defense on their ships. My confidence in the AI is restored. After numerous engagements I get the feel that force fields not only protect a ship from beams, but will also decrease the damage from missiles. The manual does not state this, but it looks like there is an overlap of protection with shields and/or force fields.

Rthor: Non-type defense offers square root protection. 9 shields is the same as 3 armor against a mass driver weapon.

This is stated in the manual. Somewhere. I think.
