Suggestion: Game Chronicle

I didn't know where to put this, so I figured off topic was a good guess. In playing GalCiv, I thought it would be cool to have some way to chronicle events for a given game, and then output that chronicle as plain text or maybe even RTF or HTML for formatting options. Here is what I'm thinking: when I design ships, I will often put some sort of short backstory in, why they were designed, if they are an export ship or if the ship was rushed into production under the pressure of war. I think it would be very cool to have some simple way of entering a chronicle or a log during a turn, that would then become part of a on-going chronicle for that particular game, as organized by turn. The chronicle could include what technologies were recently discovered (on the previous turn for example) or anything else that GNN reports on...however, this would not be the main function of such a chronicle. The chronicle would let the imiganitve player create a whole story around the events happening in the game, ordered by year to be saved or blogged or whatever. The whole thing would be completely optional, of course, but easily accessible.

The Expansion pack will actually have a story generator that will do something like this. Perhaps we can export hte story as well as the history log, so people can make their own stories if they want.

Something that would be cool for the story generator would be if all the AI:s had their own ship-name lists and would name them once they reached a certain level or something. That way, you would read about them in the generated story every time you fought them.

ryanar15, there is some info about the story generator in this old journal:
