ATI 9550 is an antiquity as well. You can get a more modern card for that price, like Radeon 9600, X700 or X1300. You can also find some GeForce 6 for that price

mine is an ATI 9800, its at least two years old, maybe 3, but it still works well.

well it depends if you have AGP or SLI express.

AGP the best card you can get is the 6800GX geforce, there will be a sever price drop soon when the 8x series comes out for direct X 10.

For SLI i am not compleatly sure for that price range...
100$ for a video card isnt very much

You can get a nVidia GeForce 7600GS on newegg for $114.99 with a $15 mail-in rebate, so it will be 99.99

I might not be the -greatest- card, but I use it and it can run anything I try on max settings, with a nice framerate.

An example would be with oblivion, all maxed, 1024x768 and around 30ish FPS outside, 40-50 inside. So that card will work. And it does run GalCiv2 greatly.

--Edit-- I forgot to mention, it is a PCI-E card, you would have to see if your motherboard supports PCI [Slow], AGP 4x/8X [medium], or PCI-E [newest, and fastest] [Correct me if I am wrong on those.]

I'm still using my old ATI Radeon 9550 card, and can still play a lot of games with it.
Works fine, and only cost me about $80 (CDN).

Heh, I used to have a 64MB Radeon 7000... It was a good card, played Civ IV with it (barely) for a little while, and it supposedly isn't supposed to be able to run the game at all.

I got a 256MB Radeon 9600 (AGP 8x) on sale at a local computer store for around $125 early this year (it happened to come with a free copy of Counterstrike: Source, too), and it plays GalCiv II and Civ IV perfectly fine, on maximum settings and 1280x1024 resolution. In fact, the only time I've really taxed it doing something would be when I went into flying camera mode in Civ IV and took this screenshot:

You might be able to find yourself a good deal on a card over at www.Tiger Direct.com, also.

Consider a GeForce 6600. It is in your price range and is better than anything ATI can provide at that price level.
