Is Google run by democrats

I notice that there is no change in graphics for Memorial Day on Google. They seem to do this for every other event. I guess Memorial Day isn't as important as Halloween.

First it's banning conservative sites the criticize islam, now this. I think I'm done with Google.

i noticed the same thing but came to the exact opposite conclusion. even tho bush couldn't get outta visiting arlington yesterday, during the previous three years of warfare the whitehouse has uniformly succeeded in ensuring he's never seen with the remains of those he ordered into battle. if it works for him, why not google?

do they often cover events that only occur in the US? I've only ever seen ones for international/English-speaking world things, like Easter, Christmas and that sort of deal.

Indeed. Memorial Day isn't until June 6th in South Korea. In the UK Rememberance Sunday is the Sunday nearest November 11th. I'm sure other nations have other memorial days too.

Indeed. It would be pretty difficult to do graphics for every holiday in every nation. It might also add the problem of having to celebrate the military "glory" of major tech players like China. I don't think anyone wants to salute the military history of such nations.

Google seems to have no trouble highlighting every other U.S. holiday. Even "holidays" like Halloween.

They don't do labor day or many other holidays, either. If you'll notice they more often commemorate birthdays and such, too. If there were a different one there every other day it wouldn't be special. Here's a list of logos from past years. Imagine if they did every holiday in every nation where their service is available.

So, "every other event" is a bit of a stretch, considering they only do 20 or so a year, and mix them up quite a bit from year to year switching out new ones. Sure they have Thanksgiving and Christmas and such. I don't see the point in outrage here. Saying 'if you do that holiday, you must do this holiday' sounds suspiciously PC...

If people want to celebrate Memorial Day, good for them. I hope we aren't getting to the point now where people who don't appropriately celebrate holidays are suspect. When I see stuff like this on the Internet it reminds me of the scene in Doctor Zhivago where the local bully says "Your attitude is noticed, you know!"

I can understand opposing people who oppose you, but witch-hunting sympathisers because they don't acknoledge the appropriate holiday seems a little, well, McCarthy to me.

I think that Google is trying to position itself as a global company, not an American company.

Maintaining a homepage with a universal appeal is especially important on the Internet, if you want to avoid alienating any of your hundreds of millions of users worldwide.
