X-Men 3: AWESOME

It was like

Putting aside the fact that we are talking about a comic book movie which means it is full of cliches and crummy dialog, X-Men 3 was easily the best of the 3.

Director Ratner, not a popular guy amongst fans, managed to crank out one hell of a good ride. There was some sloppy editing but overall, the number of times I went "OH MY GOD! I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY DID THAT!" was higher than any franchise film I've ever seen.

This movie is no-holds barred. I suspect the more you like the comic book the more you'll like the film. Not because they stay true to the comic books (they don't) but because the whole thing plays out like an almost alternative "end game" for the Marvel X-men universe.

Of course, that said, some hard core fans are going to be TICKED by what they did too. They want X-men 4, 5, 6 and so forth. Since there were no plans, they decided to just go crazy and put in a ton of plot lines into a single movie.  But if you take the movie for what it's supposed to be, it's extremely entertaining.

There won't be an X-men 4. I feel confident in saying that. There may be spin-offs of some of the major characters. But the X-men ensemble that we've known in the past will never be together again. This is truly a spectacular ending for a really well done movie series.

I give it a 4 out of 5.

Glad you got to see it and enjoyed it. Had just posted a few comments myself about seeing same.

I hope you stuck around to the end of the credits, but if not, same recommendation, do a google search and see what you might have missed as a nice little bonus at the end.

I'm headed back for viewing number 2 tomorrow. Looking forward to it.

Yeah, I saw it this morning.

I don't mind that the current ensemble probably won't be back.

The comic book X-Men changed their lineup fairly often, too.

I could see some spinoff movies (it's obvious Marvel plans to stay in the movie business for the forseeable future), but I could also see a return to the X-Men franchise with a different lineup at some point in the future.

Once you've established the setting, background, and themes, you have a lot more freedom to play around with characters and actors.

I just saw it tonight and I have to say, it was a lot of fun and a good way to spend 2hrs on a day off. But I definitely enjoyed X2 the most out of all of them. There were too many rushed aspects of this particular segment for my tastes. It was like they crammed two movies of development into one and as a result had to pay only brief attention to so many details (I wanted more on the Dept of Mutant Affairs, and wanted to see something more of the sentinals).

Can't discuss too much more than that without spoiling the story for others. It was a good, solid comic book movie that was a lot of fun if you were going in for pure escapist entertainment... but my favorite remains the second in the trilogy

I liked X2 better as well; I wasn't too keen on the rebel mutants. Where were their powers? They could jump, but that seemed about it. That and the film seemed to rely too much on the action and not enough on the character tension that made the first two so enjoyable. But still it was worth the 12 buck entrance price.

Oh you are so lucky you got to see it!

I got my 10 year old out of school early on Friday as a surprise so we could go see it together. Except when we got to the theater he BEGGED me to see "Over The Hedge"....Gah.

So we saw over the hedge and I fell to sleep, literally.

It was a cute movie, but for me, BORING, uh er what I saw of it.

I saw the movie last night too and would have to agree with you it was by far the best X- men, my wife and I loved it!!

Did you stay to watch the scene after the credits?

If you did not, I would not suggest so readily that there couldn't be an X-Men 4.

My best friend called me last night to urge me to go see it. He and his family had just gotten home, and the first thing he did was call and rave to me, knowing how much I like comic book movies. He said, though, that there was an alternate ending clip that ran after the 10 or so minutes of credits. If enough people see this, like it, and respond on the movie's website, there may be another. They stayed to see it, and went home to respond.

Crap! I just saw it but I didn't know I was supposed to stay! What did I miss? Can someone tell me where to look?

There may be spin-offs of some of the major characters.

I have heard rumors of two spinoffs: a Wolverine film and a Magneto film.

Funny.....you didn't bother to mention that the Gophers are also getting a new stadium. Students who are there for..........gasp.....an education get to help foot the bill via "student fees"!

You also didn't mention that we all know damned well that the Vikings are going to get a new stadium also!

They didn't have enough money to keep the libraries open in my childrens schools, but they have money for this?

Yeah, good ol' Gov. Pawlenty lives up to his name. If you are rich, he has Pawlenty more money to throw your way! Poor? Middle class? Bend over...again....and again....and again.....and.......

What the hell?!?!? Wrong thread, buddy.

I'm with you, Brad, and it seems like most of the people here. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and am anxiously waiting for viewing number two.

I'm hoping they do some spin-off films. That would be a blast . . . just no Halle Berry, please. I don't know how she won an Oscar. She's the weakest actor in this huge ensemble cast.

My son says: WHAT????????

He gives it 2 out of 5.  He liked it, but definitely did not think it the best of the lot.  But he does agree with you on no 4.

We just saw it today, so I refused to read these until now, and he was reading over my shoulder.  I give it a 3.  2 was better.
