Translating A Program Problems With Reshacker

Not sure if this is the right place to put this/ask.

I have found a great program I use often, but it is in French. I understand some french, but not enough to use this program daily. So I opened it up in Resource Hacker, and translated everything. I changed:

LANGUAGE LANG_FRENCH, SUBLANG_FRENCH to LANGUAGE LANG_ENGLISH, SUBLANG_ENGLISH_US

Then I clicked save, and loaded up the program. None of the text was changed . I added some text in English that DID show up correctly, and I moved some parts of the interface around. This was after the translation, so I am sure that didn't cause it.

Anyway, why doesn't this program keep the translation? Re opening in Resource Hacker shows the text as my translation, just not when running the program.

A little help ?

Found? or illegally downloaded?

Ouch.

If Keikonium hadn't already mentioned that he's stolen software before I'd be concerned that you were being rude.

Keikonium, there is probably a lesson in here somewhere.

Rude is asking for help with hacking software obtained illegally. It is quite obvious and I don't expect this thread to stay long before Keikonium deletes it. Basically she/he is asking for an help in committing in a crime.

Its a program I downloaded from the crystalxp.net I think was the website . Not illegally downloaded or anything lol. I'm not stupid enough to ask for help for illegal programs. If an illegal program doesn't work, thats my problem. This however, is free .

It is used to display a tooltip image when hovering over a window in the taskbar . I am not doing this for distrubition, just for personal use .

EDIT:

Oh, if anyone wants to check the program out, it is called Visual Tooltip, created by Christian Salmon

This program is available in English. Look at the site and it will tell you. http://chsalmon.club.fr/index.html

The basic options of the program are in french, however a little deductive reasoning will solve your dilema.

1. Go to http://babelfish.altavista.com/tr to translate French to English.
2. Fichiers de traduction , translates to ... Files of translation
- Don't know about you, but that tells me that the files listed below those words are..
LANGUAGE FILES!! (Oh we are sooooo getting somewhere now aren't we)
3. à copier dans le répertoire de Visual Tooltip , translates to... to copy in the repertory of Visual Tooltip. A little deductive reasoning beckons me to place the file I download in the same folder where I extracted the rest of the program. ( I suspect repertory means repository) You can go to dictionary.com and gain the true understanding of repertory if you so desire.
4. But Wait you ask! I've done that and things still show in french on the options dialog???
Again.. a bit of deductive reasoning will pass light on this... EXIT the program and go back in to it.

The lesson here is .. a little common sense would haved saved you all the time of trying to hack an otherwise nifty little program which didn't need hacked in the first place.

I did all that . I'm not a complete idiot . When I re open the file in Resource Hacker, all my changes appear. They do NOT however, appear upon a re launch of the program. I even rebooted my computer to see if that would make a difference to no avail .

I guess that modifing a program for personal ease of use isn't accepted around here . Oh well, thanks for trying to at least help Phoon .

Good to see it's sorted....always better to find a 'logical' solution than to reshack....that often goes awry...
