Things you learn while blogclicking - being GOP = racist

Under the category of things you learn while blogclicking, were you folks aware that (at least according to some old curmudgeon running another of those {self-named} WTF? sites found via BlogClicker.com) simply being Republican means you must be a racist pig, and that only the liberal Democratic party welcomes people of color to their party?

I guess the self admitted curmudgeon, who claims to have lived a long life, and supposedly remembers a long history of politics (back towards civil war times, and wounds that never heal, etc.), must never have dealt with Dixie-crats, doesn't remember the difficulties that Lyndon Baines Johnson had in getting his own party to pass civil rights legislation, and also apparently doesn't remember that it was the party of Lincoln that "freed the slaves."

Some people make me sick. I won't generalize and say "some liberals" (or even, possibly more appropriate "all liberals") make me sick. I'm smart enough not to make such generalizations, and smart enough to know that some bad apples does not a whole barrel make.

Unfortunately it's been true over the years that the Republican party has attracted clowns and racist pigs such as David Dukes. On the other hand, there have been black sheep in the Democratic party that have made outrageous claims too.

Neither side is perfect, and probably never will even come close. With that said though, it does turn my stomach that there are idiots out there that make claims such as the one that inspired this article. Mr. (or Mrs.) Curmudgeon can be thankful I can't VARB rate their site down to zero (as they apparently weren't smart enough to apply on BlogMad, or weren't accepted there thanks to their content, who knows for sure?!).

Feel free to use the comment area here to tell me why you think I'm just blowin' smoke here and am ignoring the long history of racism that must automatically enter my life thanks to my choosen political party. I'm man enough to take it.

The thing some old curmudgeons seem to have missed is, while David Duke enjoyed a strong following in Louisiana, he was pretty much universally rejected by the national Republicans. On the other hand, the Democrat party motto seems to be "we never met a racist we didn't like, (as long as they are liberal)."

The more liberal the racist, the more they are celebrated. Once established as a liberal they can use any racial slurr they chose, appear in Black Face as a joke and even advocate genocide (as long as the genocide targets the "right" people.

I'm no old and haven't quite reached the rank of curmudgeon, but from the rocking chair I sit, it seems to me that part of being liberal means to make race not only matter, but make it the only thing that matters at all.

OH MY GOD! As a republican do I have to hate myself?

A good republican would never have anything to do with those "dirty jews!"

Actually, I have seen worse.  I have seen a black woman, yes, totally ignorant, saying that only blacks can be real democrats.  And I know these bloggers are as ignorant as camel snot, but the only avowed racistr running for any office right now is a democrat.

Point, set and match.  The fruit dont fall far from the tree.

That sounds a bit like the bit from Dave Chappelle's Comedy Central show (man, I miss that show a lot, I wish he'd get back to making new ones!) where Chappelle was a KKK member White Supremacist, having been born blind and not realizing he was "of color."

Funny stuff.

Unfortunately, there is still far too much racism, and a lot of other *isms in this country (and the world in general), and things would be much better if that was not the case. With that said, I don't believe we need ignorant generalizations that claim one party or another is the primary culprit behind the issues.

If you want to affect change, then please work towards that end, but don't simply point and label. That does nothing and will most certainly not help the problem.

Actually, she is your neighbor.  Kind of.  My friend lives in maryland and works at Andrews.  So does this bigot.  So she is not far away from you.

I've got a blog buried way back where I try and make the point that the real racists are Democrats. They constantly claim that minorities are functioning at a level that they can't compete, that they need more help than other people, and say outright that without them there would be starving and chaos with anyone but white people.

That to me is utterly racist. Republicans are the ones saying that anyone can pull themselves out of poverty and become something. Republicans are the ones saying that what people don't need to be cared for like children, rather they need an unfettered market in which to thrive.

Democrats just like keeping little projects full of voter serfs, keeping them limping along with government handouts so they can cite them as a socialist necessity and bus them to the polls. I personally think Democrat attitudes, even painting anyone that doesn't agree with them as "uncle tom", is far, far more racist.

I totally agree with this, the democrats do more to "KEEP THE BLACKMAN Down" than the ku klux Klan ever did.

If you keep repeating over and over "you need help": "you are helpless" "we {the dems} are the only ones that understand and help you" They {the dems} just keep setting up the blacks to lose. What is sadder still is the Blacks cannot see that the dems do not care for them as a people. The dems look at blacks and do not see the person, they See votes!

WRONG!

They do more to keep any minority down! Why do you think they want the permanent underclass of illegal immigrants? ANY minority is their blood feast for their vampiric festival.

Or the Democrat candidate running for AG in Alabama?

...Or the fact that for decades "Southern Democrats" were the most poisonous of racists in America. Racists didn't start migrating to the Republican party until late in the game. Many held out far beyond FDR and Kennedy in the belief that their party had been hijacked by yankees. The fact is if you were lynched by someone in the US in the mid-1900's, I'd be willing to offer odds they had voted Democrat in the last election.

As for racists now, I think there's a pretty decent split, believe it or not. What has drawn many of those folks to the Republican party has been legitimate anger about infringments by Democrats on our rights and the imposed social agenda of the Democrats. There are plenty of Dems who hate minorities but back the Democratic party for the rural social programs they thrive on. I don't think for a moment that the racist message has any more furtile ground to grow in the Republican party.

In my opinion all the plantation owners now have (D) by their name and they work them politically instead of in the fields.

They never worked in the fields!  But your point is taken.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Alabama Democratic Party decided Friday it won't kick attorney general candidate Larry Darby off the primary ballot for denying the Holocaust occurred and for other positions it labeled offensive.

Darby, founder of the Atheist Law Center in Montgomery, said the party's decision was a surprise to him because "they haven't bothered to contact me."

The party began reviewing Darby's candidacy after he disputed the Holocaust and the death of millions of Jews and after he associated with groups tied to racism. He has also called for martial law and posting troops at interstate highways entering Alabama to check for illegal immigrants.

The party issued a statement Friday saying his "bizarre and offensive positions" were not known to party officials when he qualified as a candidate and a challenge to his candidacy was not filed within the time frame allowed by the party's rules. Also, the party said its attorneys advised against taking action because voters are already casting absentee ballots that list him as the opponent of Mobile County District Attorney John Tyson Jr. in the primary June 6.

"Democrats voting in the June 6 primary election should know that Mr. Darby's comments are not reflective of this party, its platforms or its principles," the party's statement said.

"That statement shows how bankrupt and morally challenged the party leadership is," Darby said.
