Minnesota bill SF0785 has passed through the House with a vote of 114 to 17. The newest of the 'violent gaming bills' targets both the retailer and the purchaser/renter of games deemed Mature or Adults Only ('M' and 'AO' respectively) by the ESRB.
If the bill were signed into law by the Governor, retailers would face a maximum fine of $25 with minors being charged with a petty misdemeanor under the state penal code. Rep. Jeff Johnson (R-Plymouth), is one of the bill's authors and has created SF0785 in an effort to keep this "absolutely disgusting stuff" away from minors.
