What does "bump" mean?

I have been lurking at this site since I bought the game... reading various posts and such.
So...Can someone tell me what "bump" means?

"bump" means?

exactly what it implies... as to bump something.
specifically, to bump a post back up into view after it has been slipping down the list.

well generally, for the posts to show up on the recent post list on the left side of the site, it needs to be "bumped" by someone, once it gets the first posted response it is "bumped" from the main forum list onto the recent posts so it gets seen more. generally the author of each post, (many have adopted this because of this forums system) bump their own post so that it becomes visible. on this forum if it isnt bumped, it often isnt seen very easily.

Becarfull though, sometimes "bump" can be a good tool for issues that have gotten overlooked or used by "trolls" who want imideat answears. These people "bump" there own posts, withen 1-30min. I have seen cases on this forum were someone bumped in under 1 min of the orginal post... sad little man.
