Its official, the Alliance from World of Warcraft have finally been given their new race, the Draenei, ending months of speculation. Rumors ran the gauntlet of possible choices, from the dashed hopes of a Pandarian race, the gurgling Murlocs or mining Kobold, and have come complete with screenshots and even videos of the characters in action.
The Draenei are a once mighty race from the world that will be introduced by the Burning Crusade, Draenor. In fact, the Draenei are descendants of the feared demons, the Eredar, who tainted the Orcs, causing them to destroy much of Draenor. Players of Warcraft 3 should remember the Eredar, or more specifically the generals who were sent by Sargeras to destroy both the Alliance and the Horde, Archimonde and Kil'Jaeden.
"Lots of players have wanted to play demons, and Draenei are the closest you can get to looking like an Eredar," Jeff Kaplan, one of the game’s top designers, said in an interview. "They have these cool forehead features, and one of the customization features is switching around these facial features and the tendrils hanging beneath the chin and so on."
