Races and the Metaverse

Now that I've found a custom race setup that works well for me, I'm contemplating playing as some of the 'official' races. When you're at the Abilities screen in game setup, all of the races have points "left over". In many cases, if you use these points, you lose some abilities that you couldn't have gotten with points, like the Yor's 100% loyalty increase. For some though, this isn't true. The Arceans, for instance, have a leftover ability point that's just not used - they don't have any special abilities that you lose when you assign the extra point.

My question related to this is: If you use a normal race's remaining ability points, do you show up as a Custom race when you complete a Metaverse game, or do you get that race's icon?

My second question is about the Race Victory medal that some Metaverse gamers have. Specifically, how do you get that one? I mean, part of the fun of Metaverse gaming is the forum bling that you get, right?

No u don't. U only show up as custom if u select it when choosing your race.

Just play 1 race only every game to keep the medal (or just more games as that race, then any other).

Thanks, that was what I was hoping! My idea was to handicap myself a little by not changing the race abilities as they are when you select a race, but I hate to let abilities go to waste.

I think I found the definitive answer in the Galactic Diplomats thread - the racial victory medal is for winning at least one game with every race. This ought to be interesting...
