Our Anniversary

Grant and I have been dating for six months now and I am stumped on what to do. He's going to come see me tonight and he promised to take me out to dinner with his poker winnings. I want to do something for him, but I have no idea what. I thought about cooking him dessert, but he doesn't have much of a sweet-tooth. He likes my pecan pie, but he's had that too many times before. Flowers are too girly, and stuffed animals are dumb too.

I need help! What do I do? He's hard to shop for, plus I want to do something meaningful -- not just buy him a gift.

I'm so clueless. Anyone have any ideas?

Congratulations!

Why not do a different type of dessert. Like chocolate coated strawberrys that you do together and feed each other. You might not have a fondue set but you could go to a store in your area and get the strawberries and perhaps the melted chocolate - So I guess a specialty bake shop or some place like that.

I'm thinking......

A great bottle of wine - if you both drink -wait, or you of age yet? I forgot....if not forget that one

But if you are, a great bottle of wine, chilled and with the lights low, dancing to his favorite music.

My ideas are probably lame but if I think of anything else, I'll let you know!

Yes, we're both 22. I thought about wine, but he's such a beer guy I have a feeling I'd drink it all. (Though, he may not mind that either

The chocolate strawberries we make together is a good idea. That could be fun, and fun to do together.

Thanks for the ideas. They aren't lame, they're very helpful.

I'm not sure what kind of things you guys like, but...be careful not to set the bar TOO high, lol, because then when the 1 year anniversary rolls around...uh-oh.

Hehe.

I'd want to do something like camping out at a lake (I don't know where you are, but Lake Altus in OK is awesome. Camping, a mini-mountain to climb, waterslides, bumpercars, all that) or going to an amusement park. Something kind of like a date-plus. That's just me though. Sorry I'm not more help.

Congrats.

Date-plus. That sounds like a good idea. I always wanted to take him star-gazing... either that or we'll end up at a bar eating cheese soup. (Long story)

Actually, Tex, bumper cars sounds like a fantastic idea. It may not be safe for us, but it could be really fun. Of course, my sexy top would be pretty silly ... maybe I should bring a t-shirt.

Good advice. Though, if I get my wish, the one-year will be eventful enough.

Oooh, I'm reading this too late Well my idea was more of having a bath together (with lots of bubbles!!, with candle lights, petals of roses all over the bathroom, and champagne. And then dinner out somewhere romantic *sigh*

Anyhoo, good luck with your special evening, I'm sure it'll turn out great whatever you decide to do

Island gurl, that would be a great idea... if I only had a tub. ;(

That, and I live in a dorm where candles and alcohol are not allowed. However, I think I may save this suggestion for when I'm at his house. Then it will be perfect.

if i knew what they were called, i might be able to tell ya where to find a source. i'm talkin about one of several devices designed to covertly provide poker players with the occasional badly needed card.

not that i'd imagine for a moment he'd ever use it to take advantage of anyone. as the packaging for those type of things invariably caution: they're only intended for one's personal amusement.

Isn't it funny that the one suggestion from a man gets a big huh? lol.

I wouldn't go too big for a six month anniversary. I hope he gets you something too. I just think things like this are usually a much bigger deal for the woman than the man but then again I guess that depends on the man.

I would find a book, cd, DVD maybe something sentimental that would remind him of your first date etc. I think a planning a special night out would be great too. Make some new memories.

I hope you have a great day together.
