As mentioned in late January, Relic Entertainment and THQ have decided to bring a second expansion to the Warhammer 40,000 inspired RTS, Dawn of War. The follow-up to Dawn of War: Winter Assault has received an official title, Dawn of War: Dark Crusade, and will add two new playable races to the mix.
Players will see their old favorites, the Orks, Space Marines, Eldar, Imperial Guard, and Chaos mix with the newcomers, represented by the Tau and Necrons, battle for domination of Kronus. The Dark Crusade will come complete with an all new single player campaign for players to test out the new races with. Battle between the seven playable races is set to begin this fall.
"With Dark Crusade we have taken a very different and exciting route with the single player game, allowing the player to conquer the globe as any of the seven unique playable races," said Ron Moravek, vice president THQ, general manager Relic Entertainment. "The Dawn of War franchise has become synonymous with innovation and attention to detail and we have drawn on the extensive knowledge base that Games Workshop's exhaustive universe provides us with to bring classic Tau and Necron combatants to the battlefield on Kronos."
