Wouldn't life be wonderful if this planned and now promised "no immigrant" day became a day when many employers, customers and co-workers learned that the U.S.A. doesn't really need all of these immigrants at all?

I don't want to waste a ton of time here typing an article that people won't really read, and making points that others might agree with, but which they don't want to take the time to make, so I'll keep this article fairly short.

Just consider the possibilities. What would happen if most U.S. citizens never noticed, nor even cared that tomorrow (5/1/2006) was a day when immigrants didn't show up for work?

Am I really just making wishful thoughts here, or is it possible that some companies might learn that they don't really need the help of many of the people that are promising to make a statement here?

You run the risk of picking up legals, it may be mostly illegals but think of the embaressment. They pick a couple of mexican buisnessmen who have no friggin idea whats going on. Then it get worse...

Doesn't this whole walk out thing make a point that the economy is not bad and that people must be getting paid good if they can afford to miss a day and possibly get fired in the process?

We'll count American Flags and find out waht they really care about the U.S. If they want to show us how important they are to the U.S. a good start would be showing how they feel about the U.S....

So far, all I see is "appreciate us you jerks!"

I don't know how the "walk out" is affecting anyone else's area...but there's nothing going on in my neck of the woods. Even the Mexican restaurant down the street is open and running.

I haven't watched the news, but so far its not even a blip on the radar around here.

Getting illegal immigrants out of this country is easier said than done. I don't care how good or thorough of a plan anyone has of getting "them" out of here...
I honestly don't see it happening anytime soon.

I really do hope that those who want to stay here get their behinds in gear and apply for citizenship, though. That's the least they can do for a country giving them the opportunity to have a better life, and for even some, to survive.
