How do you quote part of a post?

Pardon my ignorance

I have yet to figure out how to create one of those nifty boxes with green text and I find putting quotation marks around quotes uninspiring and dull.

Help would be very much appreciated.

Click quote, then select, copy and paste the original text between the (square bracket)I(squarebracket) and (squarebracket)/I(squarebracket).

Actually just highlight what you want and click quote button and it does all the rest of the steps.

It's just a html tag. So it's square brackets and a word (basically [ quote ] quoted phrase [ /quote ]) Just without the spaces

EDIT: I got it wrong, so changed it
