Quick question about site behavior

from WinCustomize Forums
I have been experiencing some strange behavior when trying to download skins. There are many instances when I click on the download link for the skin that I want to download and it takes me to a preview screen rather than downloading. Any ideas on why? Do I have some seeting wrong, is it Firefox?

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you sure your logged in at the time ? Sometimes you log in but when you go to a new page your logged out.

That behavior is correct if you are in the Screenshots section. Screenshots are views of how users have set up their desktops, so there is nothing to download.

I am sure that I am logged in because I skip to the next skin on the page and it downloads fine. I am clicking on the "Download" button.

It depends on what gallery you are in. Keep in mind what Fairyy and aimzzz have pointed out as far as screenshots. In other galleries, like wallpapers and ObjectDock, I have run inot the same thing and it 'usually' happens if the person who uploaded did not put the file in a zip folder.

As for any of the other galleries..if it is happening there as well...I don't know what to tell you. With FF, make sure you allow WC if you are running the 'No Script' extension. You might try clearing your cache as well. If you are running ZA, check those settings as well.

Thanks for all your help folks - here's more info.

Tried with IE - same thing. Here is one of the skins exhibiting the bahavior;

Search Gallery for Thredz
Thredz by dot.lizard
I also tried going to dot.lizards personal page, then to his skins.
It happens on quite a number of skins, yet a lot of them work fine.
I am not running ZA, nor am I running No Script.

If nobody has any other ideas I guess I'll live with it. Thanks for all the effort.

Thredz by dot.lizard is a Screen shot. Note that at the top of the Screenshot gallery it says: "Show off your favorite desktop configuration by uploading a screenshot of your desktop!" Screenshots are pictures of the way various users have arranged their desktops using the skins they downloaded in the other WC galleries. See the posts above for more comments about screenshots. I've had the same thing, definitely with WindowBlinds. I think there is something up server side, because sometimes it doesn't even log me on. Then when I go to the WindowBlind category and start sniffing around, I see something, click download from the link on the browser bit (which usually takes me straight to the download page) and it takes me to the 'show details' bitty.

I'm lucky I managed to log on to type this. It's really beginning to bug me, especially as I'm trying to find out other problems about a skin I'm using heh.
