Gene - once again you have your head shoved up your ass. I work in oil and gas. I am intimately familiar with how the market works. The very first point where you are wrong is, the price of gas has nothing to do with America. This is a world market product.

Ted was right when he said this is equilibrium in the market. If you are upset about the price at the pump try giving up a trip here or there. Ask a friend, can we carpool? This will have the single greatest effect on the market. Gid said it best in another thread. Oil companies have no use for un-purchased gas.

If the president had made a requirement for all vehicles to be more fuel efficient in 2001 the big auto makers would still be bitching and moaning and little or nothing would be done.

As long as the general population is jumping in their 148 cylinder Ford Excursion School Bus Edition to go get a gallon of milk when that trip could easily wait to be on the way to or from something else we are not going to see a drop in prices. Conservation is the answer. More fuel efficient cars are not (even though they will help).

Even if they made them, Can you go out and buy a new car to save a few more miles per gallon? I am the average American and I have to drive a car into the ground. I just can't afford to do it any other way, but I'm sure that is somehow Bush's fault.

It came from the senate. after being introduced first to a Democaratic Senate in 2001. It wasn't until 2003 that it finally passed. There are things that have been done to raise the consumer awareness and interest into purchasing these energy efficient vehicles. But Col instead of pointing to the American people you point it to Bush.

I blogged a long time back on Bush proposing changes and demanding improvements in CAFE type standards, but those changes met with opposition in Congress. And btw, it's Congress that sets such standards and passes such laws. Have you tried lobbying your resident idiots in congress to demand that they pass higher standards and make changes that will improve gas mileage in personal vehicles? I'm sure the answer is just like your lame excuse about not being able to buy anything better than a small pick up truck, which is L A M E.

You could be riding a bicycle, driving a Toyota Prius, or for that matter driving something like a Geo Metro to get better gas mileage, but you go riding around in a pick up truck and blame someone else for your not getting off your duff and trading in your guzzler for something that gets many more miles to the gallon.

If you personally haven't traded in your vehicle when you could get something that gets 10 mpg or more over your old vehicle, then you personally forfeit your right to bitch about this subject at all. And I highly doubt that you could meet that test.

Let me guess, Chevy S10 type vehicle, 20 MPG if you are lucky. A Toyota Prius (for your own personal smugness, sniff that you old fart!) would get approximately 40 MPG. Twice the MPG, if not more. A savings of 50% over the course of a year in the amount of fuel you personally consume. More savings in the amount of pollutants you put in the air, leading to the global warming you'll surely be bitching about again soon.

So again, put up or shut up you tired old troll. Either that, or have a great dream about eating marshmallow while chomping on pillow plz.
