Metaverse Recalculation

Ballpark figure as to when

Please let us know when you plan to have the metaverse scores recalculated. A lot of us are getting discouraged watching our scores and rankings drop every time we enter a high difficulty win. Please, just a rough estimate. I have posted this request in 3 other threads besides this one. Can any one give me an answer. Much appreciated. Bye for now.

I play amazing tiny galaxy games yet even after I rip the AI hands down in record time on Normal, Crippling, and Tough I get rewarded for my speed conquests with 4000-6000 scores. Yet people that play for 560 years in Gigantic galaxies for the sheer sake of it get 4.5 million scores????

I think I agree with the rebalance, remove the length as a factor to the scoring, or invert it so blitzers are rewarded for quick games especially in a GIGANTIC game.

There have been a number of arguments about the scoring of very fast games. On one hand, some skill is needed to win fast, on the other hand, Stardock has no interest in rewarding players for leaving alone more than half of what the game offers (due to lack of time and one-sided winning strategies).
From what I've seen up to now, the 1.1 scoring is much better than the old one and I look forward to the recalculation to get things going again in the Metaverse. I hope it happens soon.

but there again i can see why some ppl b(most) that i know are complaining now (yes even those who arn't getting the high scores (over 100,000) already are winging now that it seems imopissible to get scores anywhere near that..

IOts like employing someone and giving them $100,000.00 / 10 year employment then suddenly telling them that their efforts are still appreciated but now they will only be taking home $20,000 for the same abount of work.. I'm sure that you'd complain too..

There has to be some sence of achievement.. and with scores under 100,000 its no longer there.. and some of the ppl i know (most) are now thinking of stopping playing because no matter how they play they can't get a decent return..

As for the meta its a great deal part of the game for many of us.. its not just a high score list.. its an extention of the game itself (some say the game itself is mearly a steping stone to the meta) If you look at the galactic map you'll see what i mean.. your scores help your empire..

For those of you who reckon that they don't care what score they get then good on you... but don't put us down when we find ways to achieve great scores and you don't.. Some recok that scores don't matter, then winge that others are getting more than them that its unfair that they are doinbg so.. Those are the hipocrites that i can't stand .. as they say one thing and then say another... If you can only play a game x houts a day then save the game and come back rto it
(thats how i do it) don't ecpect to be able to get the decent scores in 1 session unless yoiu are really good and a devoted player..

Don't worry the meta is set up so that those who flood the meta with games get only a part of those games in their full score to help balance the time factor.. but like i've said before if you want the prize you have to work for it

alas i think that the scores over 100,000 are a thing of the past and like all currency when theres too much of it they devalue it.. lol and those of us who have those notes are the loosers in the end

As for the re-calc i agree it should be done already.. but SD may be having problems.. as the loads on the servers are still extreamly high.. and doing a re0-calc would bog them down even more... so they have to choose wisely as ppl are already complaining about the speed of the servers.. so give them a chance.. (and yes i'm one of those ppl whoes scores are going backwards.. i've droped about 5 plaves in the list and my empire has droped 2 .. all in my last 4 submitted games)

It's not true that you cannot get scores over 100K anymore, just have a look in my character to see it.

I find the whole discussion (here and in other places) to be slightly hilarious, I think of it this way: The pre-1.1 scores were inflated and now they're back to more reasonable values - but we simply aren't used to them anymore. Once the metaverse has been recalculated, people will realize that they're still competitive in the new system.

Oh, and by the way, the maximum score in GalCiv 1 was 60K (and even lower in the beginning), so don't tell me it isn't interesting anymore just because scores will go down from the former insane values. There are no losers (or winners) - everybody was and is still playing on the same field.

There is no sense in arguing until the scores get recalculated.

Right now I don't feel like playing, still interested in the game, but now I am focusing in learning how to create mods and designing new ships, the desire to play the MV is now over.

I'm just curious to see how much the scoring change affects rankings. I started out in the low 200s and then dropped pretty fast into the mid 300s just by playing games with the beta scoring change.

Well call me elitist, but I feel people should be substantially rewarded for choosing to play at the highest levels of the game. Why play at Masochistic + if similar scores can be reached by grinding out mega galaxy wins on Tough?

Well, I am looking forward to recalulation as well. My last three games hve seen my score drop, but not as drasticlally as some. But it is all relative. Not getting as high of scores in 1.1 as in earlier versions will all work out once the recalc takes place (if it is done correctly).

It may be just me, but I cannot imagine stopping playing such a good game due to Metaverse inconsistencies. I figure I would be playing this game plenty even of there was no Metaverse at all. I like the Metaverse concept, and want it, but the game's the thing. If it isn't fun, then I won't play it. If it is, then I will. GALCIV 2 is fun.

I am a little puzzled as to why Stard Dock does not just say, "We're still working on it - its taking longer then we anticipated and here's why..." or something like that.

There is a bonus for higher level games. And it's more fun for the players.

I'm a bit sad with 1.1 personally. 1.0x I maxed out a 74k score (average of 40-50k)

Then it got harder and I got pwned on my first MV game

THEN the scoring changed, and I was even more pwned. The idea is, my 74k victory was a fluke. I nearly got defeated, and everyone lost interest in me when the Torians went rampaging. The game lasted about 14 years, because I was unable to win sooner. The score would have been lower, since I did badly.

And it stops exploits. Mmmm... cheese
