Instructions to Remove Enh Dialog

Causing little problems everywhere

Can someone please post ASAP instructions for removing this "weakest link" of the Object Desktop programs. For example, CorelDRAW can no longer open/save/save as...I get application errors. I have used the exclude, but it does not work. I can find no place to unload this mischief maker.

this has been noticed before with Photoshop

to uninstall, just use SDC..if the problem persists after the uninstall then try the solution in this Link


the regedit fix in post #10 worked for me....it might even be worth trying the regedit fix before removing ED, as it may well fix the problem and enable you to use ED with CoralDraw....if it does, i'd love to know it worked

I didn't think to use SDC...I looked everywhere else. Unfortunately, tho the problem is unchanged. Also, altho I could not find the link in Adobe Forums, I checked the key you mentioned and it is already set to 1.

I am wondering if I go back to an earlier registry. This makes me a bit sad. All the other SD programs are pretty slick. This one has problems, and now they are my problems.

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Enhanced dialogue is part of Object Desktop. SDC (Stardock Central) is also part of Object Desktop, so you should have it. you can uninstall ED from there...

try raising a error reports with Stardock..

i don't have coraldraw and i stopped using ED a while back, 'cos it is a little buggy, so i'm not sure if i can help any more...you could also try looking on coraldraws forums for any help, or even raise the problem there..

I went back to that key recommended in the earlier post. Since it was already set to 1, I figured "what the heck" and changed it to 0. That fixed the problems...all of them! So, it is possible that what is said in the earlier referred link is backwards, ie go from 1 to 0, not 0 to 1, or maybe I am just lucky.

Thanks for all your help and suggestions. I shall leave ED out of my list of recommendeds.

Referring to the "Fix", I checked and it didn't change mine to 0 for some reason. I'm wondering if it's just a setting from prior to installing enhanced dialogs on some systems that the developers aren't aware of as an issue.

No problems with Corel Draw 12 and I've been using it since it came out. Only problems I've had are related to the files handling older 16 bit apps from Win3.1 days like wowexec.exe and ntvdm.exe which once excluded solved all issues.

the second time i had this problem with Photoshop was after installing ED on a freshly re-formatted disk, with a clean install of XP...i had no problems with the various 'save as' issues until i installed ED....and the problems started staight away after install ED, so i'm pretty sure ED must be the cause of this...it's a good idea for a product, very useful when it works, but i've lost confidence with this build

I think there may be some serious problems with ED beyond the obvious. At the beginning of the Stardock Support forum is this rather large disclaimer about the screen blacking out and slow re-write saying that it wasn't Stardock's fault but that of a pirated edition. Well, I never had that problem UNTIL I loaded ED...and I am fully registered and paid. Maybe its a coincidence, but since unloading ED, the screen re-writing and all save/open features have resolved. This gets the coveted "Hmmmm..."

That's referring to a pirated version of Windowblinds 5, it has nothing to do with ED

it's a good idea for a product, very useful when it works, but i've lost confidence with this build


i must admit, i didn't know there was a new build (0.92[b].002), which i noticed from another thread (Link)..i have downloaded it, installed it, and so far no problems (i don't use the 'recent dropdown')...photoshop seems to be working fine, as do all other programs so far....apologies to the stardock crew, this build seems to be ok so far for me

Recent Folders is one of the main reasons I use ED. I went back to my archived version (0.90), which works fine for me. I couldn't use the latest release...

The registry key being set incorrectly has now been addressed internally along with the recent folders crashing when being clicked.
