Metaverse, mods, ships and Cheating

What can and can't you do in order to invalidate a Metaverse game? I assume if you mess with the game mechanics and/or use cheats it won't work. But what about all these new ship designs like on the library link. Will some work and others not? It appears that some are just graphics and some "do" things such as custom planets. I wouldn't want to go through a 15 year game and have it not upload.

Library mods won't affect metaverse games, since the .xml files are seperate for metaverse and normal games.

Well, I think everything you have in My Documents/My Games/GalCiv2 is also applied to metaverse games. That means logos, portraits, and saves.

Logos and Portraits, yes. Ships, no - uses another folder

Well, if you copy them to your metaverse\ships folder, they will show up in metaverse games... I am using the set of human basic hulls that someone recently put in the library, and I copied them to the metaverse\ships folder, and sure enough, they do show up in the metaverse game... but will using it invalidate the game when I submit it to the metaverse? (I don't see why it should, since it only adds jewelry to the basic hulls in the game)...

Will Metaverse become some kind of Battle.net? For my metaverse games all I wanted to do is gain as many points as I could... so I played these games without thinking of good background stories for my civ, without naming and describing my ships, without roleplaying the ability choices and going for munchkinism...

Yeah I've noticed that too about my games, they have almost become pointless in their repeativeness. It seems like all I want to do is destroy my enemy and start a new game to get yet more scores posted.

I think I'll start to lay off the MV for a while or risk loosing interest in the game entirely.

That is exactly what I have done, I created a new race and now I am just trying to enjoy the role playing by renaming my planets to cities on this country I choose as my race, and trying to learn the modding part to recreate all the areas that can be tweaked into more like this race. I will think that someone into scifi could rename the whole race into one similar to his or her favorite scifi show.
