My explorer quit exploring

In the beginning of the game I had an explorer, pressed A and it dutifully went off searching for anomalies.  I did not have a scout in service at the time but this didn't seem to bother my explorer.  Midway through the game I get a message, Explorer XXX can not find anymore anomolies.  I check the map and its only 1/2 uncovered and there is plenty of unexplored space within its range.  What's up with this?

There is a difference between looking for anomolies and exploring. If you set it to look for anomolies and it found all of them, it will cease moving. Tell it to auto-explore and it will continue to reveal the map to you. Units that are capable of finding anomolies (both PC and player) cheat and know where all the anomolies are when you tell them to auto-find. The fact that it said it could not find any more meant that the areas it hadn't been to yet simply didn't have any.

This title was funnier when I thought he was talking about Windows Explorer.

Draknost has uttered truths...

Actually this seems to be a bug in the current version. My explorer came up with the same message. I knew there were more anomolies in an area a scout ship had explored si I moved the explorer over near the anomoly but kept getting the same message when I tried to get it to look for anomolies again. It seems that once the switch is turned off there is no way to turn it back on.

What I can't figure out is why it completely disables the ability to do it automatically just because it can't find anything new in the current range. Sooner or later that range is going to increase, then you have to build an entirely new ship to replace the one that's broken.

Here is the other thing, this ship had NO scout companions so in the process of finding anomalies it revealing the map ON ITS OWN so there should have been no reason for it to stop.
