It's official

We have a cheater, congrats on the 203 year victory, seriously...I can win the game in that number of clicks. Well maybe 2x that number of clicks but still, We need a new scoring chart. Maybe my next game will take 10,000 years, kinda like how long the God Emperor of Dune lived for.

He did that on purpose to make the point that the scoring system is broken. He has posted about why he did it in other threads here.

We're going to be removing cheese games manually.  1.1 has a new scoring algorithm that should eliminate that kind of thing.

Alright, my bad then, as long as he documented the event, cross the t's and dotted the ...lower case j's

IMO you can cheese games on suicidal/gigantic after as few as 11-12 years. All my games could have scored much higher if I drug them out to 17 like many people do:P Anyway, great to hear that you're changing the scoring alogorithm!

In 1.1, the scores will be divided again by the game turn (so game turn ^2).  Existing scores will be retroactively re-calculated.

You mean that you guys are actually going to fix the old scores instead of just clear them all out? You guys really are workaholics!

Yes, well thats why I have bought GalCiv 2 (should be here by Saturday/Monday) because I can see that they ARENT like the Civ4 dev team *ie. no updates since January* and update every day or so. Also, because of the hard effort all of you guys put into this, I would just like to say you have definately got another sale from me later in the year!!

Cheers for making such quality games!!

Wonderfull!

Just one problem... manualy deleting chese games isnt working too well...
Look for games with influence voctory turned off, like, say, the top 5 right now

Errr... disabling influence victory is an option made available in the game setup - so how can this be "cheese"?

Maybe some of us actually want to play the game, and not have it end artificially after 2 years with an influence victory.

Well, the cheese isn't in disabling influence victory. It is in keeping one major AI alive to milk score. And turn off influence victory prevents the victory from coming too soon

Well, with 1.1 score milking won't work, you won't be gaining enough points to make up for the new score divider.

If only that were true. they deleted me asap, lol.

But, no matter, I win anyways, because they are suddenly going to fix the scoring in 1.1.
Thats all I wanted really, although letting me keep a "former first place" medal is, imo, the least they could do for someone who helped them improve thier game.
