Almost done..

Just a head's up, we have a pretty neat mod that's going to be used for testing out the modding stuff.

It's an alternative main UI!

Greratest thing is that hopefully this means the modding psths will now work (fingers crossed) - i.e. you can make use of the modding folders so it will be way easier to keep track of things.

I do have some bad news though, it may have to wait until 1.2.  The mod stuff is really cool and we want to make it available but we don't want to extend the beta of 1.1 much longer since there's lots of peple waiting for the "official" 1.1.

Shouldve delayed 1.1 a bit then, oh no that means those with bugs are left stranded with them for longer. No the right descision was made.

I dont suppose it could be released as an addon and let the patches be, you know patches

Stardock deserve some support, because theyre nice people and nice people deserve to be able to eat.

Pfft patches are what patches are, but Stardock's patches should be called add-ons in their own rite. Keep up the good work SD! And I can't wait for the modding stuff thats coming in 1.1!

I think the mod support is one of the most-anticipated features for v1.1, so it might be worth waiting for it. Maybe a poll could test the waters?

I think for non-beta users the tweaks to the AI, bug fixes, no tech trading, and other things far outweigh the mods.

We'll start the beta of 1.2 almost immediately so it's not like real time is being lost. It's just a matter of what is considered a "release" and a beta.  If you play with the betas, it makes little difference but a lot of people won't use the betas.

I wasn't considering all the regular people who stay away from unstable beta releases. You're right, you've done a lot of work the masses would like (at least looking at the forum).

Does this mean there won't be any of the new modding stuff in v1.1 or just the mod(s) you refered to in the topic?

I for one can happily wait until 1.2 or even 1.3.... I know it's coming sometime. You all at SD have put your money where your mouths are enough to show that you are the real deal, and deserve patience from us.

... tah dah tah dah tah dah ..... Release the hounds! (well, 1.1 anyway lol)

Yeah, he and I are both from the X3 boards. We actually have a Empire formed together. Props if you can guess the origin of the empire name....

BTW. Cheers to Stardock. I can't wait to get my hands on some official modding tools....

hey Frogboy.... can you make all future beta's closed again... I am tired of reading the countless posts of people complaining about the beta. They are obviously not qualified to do much of anything, if they do not understand what a beta build is. I love the support you guys have, and I can personally account for how they boys behind the screen helped me. I am just barely starting to figure out the game mechanics, and deciding what kind of mods I'd like to see, or make.....

I love this game.

after that you could help us with the carriers/hangars.

Yep, carriers is something missing right now, however great game

I mentioned this a second ago in another thread but please make more modable when you get around to that section of the game. It isnt that great to be able to mod a game and still have odd elements popping up. By odd elements I mean all the minor races (offshoots, new minors, venge, fundamentalists etc.), all events (minor races actually popping up, various booms, speed upgrades etc.), and other elements that do not appear in the xml files.

i would love the tech and race mods to be more streamlined. building a reac then editing home worlds then pictures, then logos is too timeconsuming for something so simple. the techs are great but there is room for improvement on the treee. great start and great game. i love it and it has convinced that pc gaming is way better than the consoles i was playing. now i look at my 360 and think "another bites the dust." also if we could orgainse a little better with the mod teams. i have seen ten posts on star treck mods. being a trekkie this has great appeal. however, it seems that a lot of time and energy being wasted on double builing from the unorganized state of affairs. just some ideas and thank you for your time.

Well I know what a Beta is and for that I am one of the persons who are not using Betas (Drivers and Patches).

It's maybe selffish but I feel like a guinea pig when I use such Betas. If we would talk about a free Version-game, o.k. I would maybe do it, but I have payed for it and would like to play the game with less bugs and I prefer waiting for the final release of the patches.

It's just my opinion.
But you should know I am not "flaming", because Stardock uses the Betas in a good way, and no one is forced to download the Betas.
So I say to the Betas: Thank you, but no."
