I'm Going to Miss You Tom DeLay

I'm going to miss you, Tom Delay...

I don't know that I should really admit to this, but I like hating the GOP.

For years it has been so easy to hate them when they have leaders like DeLay, Frist, and Cunningham.

But now Cunningham is gone, and DeLay is going. That just leaves me with Frist. Frist isn't that much fun to hate, because he comes off as a clown most of the time.

The easy path to take is for me to just start bashing Bush. However, I think there are plenty around to do that already. Besides, like Frist...it's just too damned easy. Anyone with a single impartial brain cell can see that Bush's second term has been one disaster after another.

Sure, there are others in the GOP to loathe; Santorum and Ney come to mind, but they are poor substitutes for the original GOP Gangsta...Tom DeLay.

DeLay is largely responsible for putting together the Pay-For-Play K-Street Project, which in many ways has sold out Congress to lobbyists. Now DeLay has hinted that he may be headed to K-Street as a lobbyist himself. With his history of arm twisting, manipulation, and intimidation, I can't think of many better places for him.

Just for fun, I have one last bash.

DeLay discussing Hillary Clinton with Chris Matthews;

MATTHEWS: Have you seen this new focus group stuff on the candidates?
DELAY: No I haven't
MATTHEWS: It's great stuff. I'll send it to you -- it's great -- yeah it's great stuff. Hillary, John Kerry. All these guys, all these democrats, and how they do. And, uh, Frank Luntz did it...
DELAY: who I like
CM: ...and Hillary did not do well. Kerry did well.
DELAY: You're kidding.
MATTHEWS: I am NOT kidding. They didn't like Edwards -- they thought he was a rich lawyer, pretending to care about poor people...
DELAY: Too slick. Too slick.
MATTHEWS: ...and Hillary was a know-it-all. DELAY: Nothing worse than a woman know-it-all

*sigh*
It's not going to be the same around here without you Tom.

YOur flippant attitude indicates you are unwilling to understand. There is no keen wisdom. There is only the reality.

Thanks Cacto. I do not always state the obvious. I just hope others can see it. being an Aussie, it would escape you. But being an American, it only escapes those who will not see.

Well, thank goodness that your sadness will end pretty soon....in November.

Right...when the Democrats are staging an all out effort to lose by either not nominating ANY candidates, or nominating only paper candidates in Republican enclaves.

You can't win if you don't have candidates on the ballot, davad.

It's would have been pretty easy for me to write that every single republican in congress is crooked, or that I hate them all, but I didn't. Therefore, why would you assume that my intent was that I meant every single one of them?

You didn't? Do you even read what you write? Did you even notice what you quoted after this? Just in case, let me show you:

I don't know that I should really admit to this, but I like hating the GOP.

If that doesn't say what you denied on the top quote then I'm a monkeys uncle.

Actually, the GOP is a political party/organization. If my intent was to say that I hated everyone as you're implying then I would have said that.

????? Isn't that what you did on the quote above this one? Or are you saying that I said everyone who's a politician regardless of party? Cause I though it was obvious what I said. You're confusing me.

Are you done playing games now? Are you going to add anything other than nitpicking? If not, then leave.

Do you ever take anyone serious? Games? If I were playing games with you I'd having running around in circles. I'm not the one who writes one thing and expects everyone else to understand the opposite. I'm not the one who wrote:

It's would have been pretty easy for me to write that every single republican in congress is crooked, or that I hate them all, but I didn't.

when you article clearly says:

but I like hating the GOP.

Who's the one playing games here? And what's this whole deal about nit-picking? If you don't like people nit-picking then either don't give them a reason to, like you did on reply #10, or write a disclaimer on your articles. Otherwise deal with them , it's all part of debating.

And if you don't like what I have to say then that's why there is a blacklisting feature. Keep in mind though that the reason for a site like this was to express yourself and for people to express themselves about the expression of others. That would include those things called nit-picking on this site.

Darn thing didn't make it look write. I delete it and wrote it again. Here's some free point for your article.

Obviously the last 2 paragraphs on the previous post are not part of the quote. Could not fix it.

Dont you think your "oh yea? make me!" childish brags are getting old? How many times has this been said in the last 12 years?

Happy forever. It is nice to have dreams.

This kind of reminded me of an article written by Conan O'Brien for TIME Magazine (think it was...maybe NEWSWEEK) in late 2000.
He said that he, like most comedians who do topical humor, was going to miss Bill Clinton. He'd miss Clinton "the way a child misses Christmas on a cold, drizzly February morning at the bus stop".
Why would Clinton be so missed? According to O'Brien, it was because you hardly needed writers to make jokes about him. He wrote his own material.
