editing saves/editing memory and the metaverse

Is there any precautions taken to stop people from editing their savegames to give themselves 10,000,000 BCs at start in a metaverse game? I would think that there is probably a checksum at least on the savegames to prevent this kind of cheating, but I don't see how they could possibly stop memory editing, which is just as good if not better. So take any really high scores on the metaverse with a large grain of salt, call me cynical but I betcha that a good 75% at least of games played on suicidal have been hacked to high heaven. Note that I haven't even played a metaverse game yet, and I dunno if I ever will because of the above, unless someone can confirm that stardock has come up with some ingenious way to prevent memory editing.

I'd be happy to post some of "suicidial" save games if you'd like. The AI just gets plain idiotic at that level at the end game. They spawn millions of tiny/small fighters with outdated equipment and bankrupt themselves. I usually have to play the diplomacy game and get my enemies to war. I will say the AI in the new beta totally dominates me even on crippling or so Thank god. I was a bit annoyed how easy it was to win on suicidal before that patch. (Notice I haven't posted games in a while? I got fed up I kept losing and have been playing UT2k4 and some Oblivion but I still love my galcvis:P)

Besides, if I was hacking like you say, why would I only have one of my 12 games go past 10 years? The one game that's over is 17, and that was a very hard faught game. I was on the brink of destruction with 3 civs each capable of destroying me attacking me at once, but I managed to win eventually.

Anyway I supports any form of MD5-ish checksum for cheats if thats even possible

Notice I said 75% right ? I know theres lots of honest people out there, but theres also a lot of cheaters, and lots of immature people who will do anything to see their handles on the high score list. Personally I don't understand it, why bother posting a score you obviously didnt earn?
