Metaverse Difficulty Rating

Tried posting this elsewhere and then realized it probably belonged here.

I just completed my first metaverse game. When I began the game I set the game to "tough" and had each opponent set to "intelligent".

I was therefore surprised when I finished the game and got a difficulty rating of "cakewalk". I went back and started a new one and sure enough, my default settings seem to be "tough" and "intelligent". Now, I did use a custom race... qould that have an effect?

I should also say that I did find that particular game to be quite easy... so it is quite possible I played the game at an easy difficulty level... but I was so sure I set the difficulty to tough.

Any thoughts?

Before I start a new one I want to make sure I do it right.

Í have a similar problem.
Even though i played 2games on though with unmodífied AIs, and my scoretable displays 2 though games won.
I still have only the challenging award on my "icons"

The difficulty and the intelligence of the AI can be made different and so offsetting one another.

I've had it where I set an AI to one level but since I didn't set the difficulty to that level it thought I was facing a weak enemy, its also worth considering the average difficulty of all your opponents. If one is set to Genius and the rest to dumb then that might average out at Cakewalk.
