Missing Skins From Galleries Before Logon

Has anyone else noticed this?

A few weeks ago, I submitted a SysMetrix skin.Link
I noticed on my site gallery pageLink that after that few weeks the skin only had 27 downloads.
I am thinking, this skin is a flop, back to the ol'corel drawing board, I guess.
Then, I gathered up my crushed ego clicked on over to the SysMetrix Gallery PageLink to look at my most recent pride and joy.
"Gasp! It is not here," I said to myself. I started to sob.
I then grabbed a Kleenex, went to log on to the site, and report the skin missing. When I logged in, wiping the tears from my eyes, the skin appeared. I was happy again.
Grabbing another couple of tissues, while my self-esteem was improving, I blew my nose, and came on over here to see anyone else might be experiencing the same problem and if there might be a support group for missing skin syndrome.

Seriously though,I did want to report this problem. Has anyone else noticed this?

When not logged in or are an unregistered user, will only see SysMetrix skins rated 4 stars or higher.

Not being logged in will limit the availability of accessible skins.

The reason for a rating system is to provide a filter to limit bandwidth use by non-members.

If you login you are able to see ALL submitted works.  If not you see only higher-rated ones.

This is coincidentally a way for Wincustomize.com to show its 'best-face', but the reason is primarily a bandwidth one...

No, when a skin is awaiting moderation it can only be seen by others at your WC site, gallery page. There are no rating filters on WC personal galleries.

I have recently updated 2 screensavers. They were just approved, I never saw them awaiting moderation. Also now that they are approved they are not showing up in my site gallery pageLink or in my skins listLink.
I guess it has something to do with updates that WinCustomize is doing now.

Hi Jimbo...remind me to buy shares in Kleenex for the next time we lose skins!!.....I have lost two logons and I must say it's a little disheartening...they were not visible even though I was logged on and had friends logged on checking as well to no avail.....my story is a little different from yours though.....I submitted a logon of a pink violet which rated 3 stars when accepted and within a few days was knocked down to 2 1/2. Not a mind blowing logon but had downloads of high 200's when I submitted another logon which received 1 1/2 stars. This latest logon was only visible for the time it was on the Gallery page and then completely disappeared. At the same time this new one was accepted, my pink violet was further knocked down to 1 1/2 stars and after 16 days of being visible, disappeared never to been seen again, and both lots of numbers just died in the water....except for the occasional download from people going to 'View my skins' through other logons, as you can tell from the same 'last downloaded' names/addresses. I looked around to see if there was a filter that cut out everything under 1 1/2 but couldn't see anthing to change.....I suppose the moral of the story is to work harder and get higher scores than 1 1/2 or you're not put out there.....but I don't quite see the point of accepting them then....well, after a disheartened period of time, am starting to make some more....I'm only a basic learner, but it's quite addictive and mostly make ones for myself to use.....but looking on the positive side...I have just checked out your impressive list and I'm heading for a Summer Breeze screensaver!!....

whether or not things just 'disappear' due to ratings is dependent upon what your rating preference to view is set at.

click the 'my account' - under 'web viewing options' you have the ability to pick a rating so you will only see things with that rating and above. I set mine to 'all' so nothing disappears for me.

Thanks for the heads up Sir Bichur......I had previously gone to my account web viewing options but there was no option to change it.....apparently as a Registered User Account it does not have that option....so I just signed up as a Subscriber and lo and behold it appears and I have set to ALL......thanks kindly for taking the time to explain and I shall now go and explore all my new Subscriber extras...... (thanks also Jimbo for your article or I would still be in the dark!! )

Sir Bichur Thanks for the heads up. I also just figured out that little wrench on the gallery page. Where you can choose which skins to list in the menu. lol
