It seems that New Orleans likes to waste money.  Your and my money!  While moaning and complaining about not getting enough money to rebuild New Orleans, Mayor Nagin rejected an offer from a Car Crusher to take the 50,000 cars off the streets of New Orleans and PAY the city $100/car!

Instead, now, Mayor Nagin is looking at spending $23 million to get rid of the remaining cars (only 25k to 30k remain after insurance companies trashed the others).  So instead of reaping a $5 million winfall, the city is now looking at spending $23 million to get rid of a problem that could have been resolved months ago!

And we are to believe it when they cry poor mouth and that the feds are not doing enough?  Right!  "Take that America!  We are going to make you pay for our malfeasance and stupidity."

Oh man. I would have tried to increase from $100 to about $150. Not too much increase but it would mean net of 7.5 million. Maybe work down, but...

Just turn down then pay lot of money? Jeez.

Ah, it is good to read other governments are just as stupid as mine when it comes to wasting taxpayers money. I'd have to ask how much kick-back the mayor is getting to do the job his way.
