WHAT DID JESUS LOOK LIKE?

Forensic scientists have discovered what Jesus looked like 2,000 years ago. From the time Christian children settle into Sunday school classrooms, an image of Jesus Christ is etched into their minds. In North America Jesus is most often depicted as being taller than his disciples, lean, with flowing, light brown hair, and fair skin with light-colored eyes.

This image of Jesus is completely false. A person with these features and physical appearance would have looked very different from everyone else in the region where Jesus lived and ministered.

Classical European painters usually portray Him as tall and thin and with delicate, almost effeminate features. The African Edition of the King James Bible has a picture of Jesus looking like a man from Central Africa. These two portrayals are completely inaccurate.

Today, forensic scientists have re-created what they believe to be the most accurate image of Jesus in history. Their conclusions surprised many religious people. They found that the average build of a Semite male at the time of Jesus was 5 feet 1 inch, with an average weight of 110 pounds. Also, he was much more muscular and fit than westernized portraits suggest. Jesus must have looked like any other Jew of His day, because the Gospel writers record an account when Jesus avoided violence by an angry mob simply by mingling with the crowd. Also, Judas had to identify Him with a kiss when he betrayed him.

Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 11:14 that it's a shame for a man to have long hair. Also, historical data shows that short hair on males was the norm for that time in Roman History. We can know what Jesus looked like in general but no one really knows the exact physical features of Jesus. The New Testament has almost nothing to say about what He looked like. About all we can know for sure, is that Jesus looked very average and could blend into any crowd very easily.

We find Jesus portrayed by Europeans as European, by Africans as African, by Hispanics as Hispanic and by Asians as Asian. Also, people tend to interpret His teachings by the standards of their culture. You may find that not only did Jesus look different than many have believed, but that his gospel contains truths from God most have never heard.

We must strive to be accurate in all things, small or large.

You make a good point that goes over the heads of many.
I have seen one account of him actually being short and of almost hunchbacked shape. The Holy Bible only says he was of an unremarkable appearance. This is to show his influence was not due to his being a model or of'comely' look.

What you say is true and the use of these images is to manipulate largely the females who have, on several occassions been influenced by Priests into conversion and then manipulating the King to change his religion by it. The Catholic Church has had its deviates in the priesthood, painting the man in g strings and as a sensuous nude. It also served the purpose of the Nationalism of the rulers to have God on their side in matters of State, thus the blond hair and blue eyes. Making God white was important to the missionaries who argued that God was 'white', in occupied lands trying to win hearts and minds to the invading Empire.

The racists and revisionist on several sites have been doing this again of late and I point out his Habiru Nationality and the appearance of people's of the Middle East as the refutation. Note how the Jew in America, is unique in being allowed to claim themselves to be "European" and "White" for purposes of the American census, while Palestinians of the same one mile area are not. It's called genocide and the jew who does such things, suffers from lack of self identity - just like the painter or author who uses such portrayals of Jesus appearance to get more money in the plate.
