cedega+galciv2

getting there.. I think

I have been trying to get galciv2 to work with cedega (version 5.0)...

I can actually the game started into the main menu but all the fonts are wrong...
to get the this far I installed dcom98, microsoft installer, and the microsoft xml dlls under cedega before installing the game. Tried to get the game started even though I couldn't understand what any of the menu items ment due to the fonts being weird... I seems like the game crashes when I try to start at new game. If however I can get the font-problem resolved I might be able to get a bit further... I have tried copying windows fonts into the cedega font directory and also tried installing the msttcorefonts package (running Debian).. nothing seemed to work...

anyways just wanted to share my experience with galciv2+cedega.. hope someone might be able to use this to get a bit further.. please throw me a msg if you do

I think dcom98 is the only part you need, because the game started up after I installed it. However, I'm also having that weird font issue. I think getting fonts working in Cedega is more complicated than just "dropping the file in", but I'm not exactly sure how to do it myself. Also, I don't know exactly *which* fonts the game depends on. However, I did notice that the game directories themselves contain 2 additional font files.

did your installer also stall after installing the last file? I was also unable to resolve that problem but it seems like everything works anyways... well nearly anything... installing the upgrade fails since it cannot find galciv2 in the registry and I believe this might be due to the installer updating the registry _after_ installing the game files.
