Yes ... You can use the stardock central for this

- Open stardock central
- Select GalCiv II
- Right click ... select archive application (or similar)
- Burn the newly created file (it should be under C:\program files\star dock\backup) on cd
- Install stardock central at home
- Copy the file to the same backup directory
- In stardock central select "File | restore archive" (or similar )

Thats it ...

Oh F__K, I have a new problem...

I right click the Galactic Civilizations II, I select "archive application" only to realise that the "Selected Application" choice is disabled !! the only thing I can do is "Download and archive". Does that mean that I'll have to download it again ????

You should just be able to Archive the Game at work, copy the archive to you home computer, install SDC at home and unarchive it. If you are getting a error when arhiveing it make sure you have all the componets. If you still have a problem let us know.

Well, you could nip out on your lunch break and buy a 1000 floppies. Or, if your'e really desperate, you could pay someone to burgle the place and nick your PC.

hm ... you have downloaded it with stardock central before?

It should work if you can select "Run application" in context menu ... otherwise it was not downloaded correctly? Maybe you have to start it first in work and then it can be archived

Do you know anyone that could borrow you a memory stick or a zip drive?

Either would do, though having to buy one yourself, would probably cost you more that re-buying the game when you get home.

GalCiv2 needs a boss button like the old Doom had.. hear your boss coming? tap a key, and you're suddenly working hard on the gutterman file. ^_^

Hey guys,

I can't install Stardock Central. When starting the stardock_central.exe file the Wise Installation Wizard fires up, there's much activity on the harddrive (audible) and the task manager shows both the stardock_central.exe file and another one by the name of GLB##.tmp where ## stands for some number (apparently hex, since sometimes there's a E or C there as well). This latter file consumes between 20 to 50% of the processor time on my double core machine (which means one of the processors is quite busy with it). Nothing more happens. That can go on for minutes without any change, except that the processor usage seems to vary a lot, it's not continually 50%. Then after about 10 min windows fires up an error message telling me that the GLB##.tmp file is not a valid windows file. Doh.
Since this seems to be pretty rare and since you make it impossible to download and install the game without it, I'd like to know what to do next?
I have an older computer which installed Stardock Central just fine and shows me the option to install GalCiv II now, but this is not the one I'd like to use for this game. I saw the post about archiving the game once it's installed on another computer and then restoring it again - but still, I'd need Stardock Central for this, wouldn't I? Any ideas? Thanks for any help you can provide.

My system (the one that's making problems): AMD Opteron 165, 1 GB RAM, Asus A8N-E board, Asus Extreme N6600 Silencer graphics card with 256 MB RAM; WinXP SP2

cheers,

Helge
