WinCustomize Upgrade (Logon Issues)

Temporary login issues while we complete our upgrade

We are in the procress of upgrading WinCustomize from ASP .Net v1.1 to ASP .Net v2.0.  At this moment we have already updated the Personal Pages to the new version of ASP.Net.

However, ASP .Net v2.0 handles cookies differently so the login cookies are not compatible between the main site.  So as you navigate from the main site to the personal pages you will find that you need to logon on and off.

We hope to complete our upgrade process tomorrow so for the next day we apologize for the inconvience with the logon system.

And I guess I should mention that if you see any new bugs with the personal pages please post them here.

Thanks for the heads-up. You all have been working hard but always manage to keep us informed of any lil' bugs we may run into.

When I sign on and then go to my skins it just keeps going back to before I was signed on..Like I never signed on....

Me too. I had to sign on about 5 times before I was totally in.

Seems to work fine for me... I clicked your link I have in Favorites, and it gave me the non-member page, so I just logged in and 'voila!' Note: I usually log in, then if I need to refresh my Favorites' link, I do so, and thereafter, it takes me to WC and I'm already logged in.

Well, this didn't work out so well.  We tried upgrading the main site today and something was very unhappy so we had to back level to ASP.Net v1.1 for now. Back to the drawing board.

This could be a problem when I log on to my personal site, on the home page the "Newest Additions" section Link is missing.

I tried installing v2.0 .NET last year on my comp and what i found was v1.1 was still in the add/remove and after deleting v1.1 and then going to m/s update to check for more upates it said i needed 1.1 .NET when i already had v2.0 installed, according to the phone help desk they reckoned it was ok to install over the old pffffft i beg to differ. Not only that windoctor picked up a few crap entries and could'nt delete them, guess i'm gunna have to email m/s NZ and get an explanation on what the story is as i should'nt need both versions to be installed (the comp still worked fine it was just annoying that auto-update said to install the earlier version of .NET and the fact there were some registry entries that should not be there) GRRRRRRRRR ...lol...

I must have missed something while away for a while, but I no longer have a "Insert Image" button available in the comment section.

In fact, it looks like I have been demoted to normal subscriber, with no moderator buttons in any comment sections.

I've lost the image and html tools too - must be a glitch in the matrix

The 1.1 and 2.0 versions of the .NET framework are mutually exclusive. In other words the presence of one does not preclude the need for the other. Apps written for pre 2.0 versions of the framework will not work with just 2.0 installed and obviously apps written for 2.0 will not work with 1.x installed.

Whats new in 2.0?

There are actually some really kewl technologies in the 2.0 framework such as partial classes and Generics. It should be fairly kewl once the little upgrade issues are worked out. Too bad I left the job I had writing C# apps . Oh well, I live in a much nicer place now so it was all worth it.

Hey Kevin ,cheers for that, it explains why the updater was telling me to re-install v1.1 ...lol...

Not a problem, glad it was helpful.. I just wish MS had thought about these sorts of things when they released 2.0. I'm sure there are lots of people out there wondering why they can't run a 1.1 compatible application on a box with the 2.0 framework installed. It definitely kills the idea of backward compatibility. Then again everything MS is doing with .NET is meant to avoid the DLL nightmares that one could encounter with older technologies.

Every time I try to install 2.0, it bails out when it's almost through. It can't find the contents of some folder (vb something) in the temp files. It's making me crazy-- well actually I was already crazy-- but it's pretty annoying. Any ideas?
