music options for those seeking different songs while playing

I find the music i've heard so far in galciv2 to be unappealing. others might as well so i'm posting my solution. download itunes (its free) and load up the internet radio stations. Open up 'ambient' and find a station there that suits you. Personally I strongly recommend paxahau ( i think I spelt that correct).

works out wonderfully...really enhances my playing experience. I hope it does for you as well.

Hehe, I like the music in GalCv II just fine, but I've gotten some weird looks from my parents when they asked what the hell I was listening to. My mom called the Drengin theme grave music.

lol... I like it just fine too. Or silent with the TV on

Anyway, it would be nice if games allowed you to replaced their music with ones we prefer.

Isn't the music in GalCiv2 just MP3 files? If you don't like them then just create a MOD with your choices.

djtool : check google for star control 2 game called "The Ur-Quan Masters" It's a direct port from the original to PC, and stable as all get out. One of the improvements is they got a lot of the original sound people to come in and do remixes on the themes, and they're QUITE NICE!

can you just put MP3 files into the music folder and have them play? anyone know or tried this yet?

You need, for now, to rename the file that you want to stick in the music folder to one of the files that are already in the music folder.

Awesome, awesome, awesome!! StarControl II is pretty much my all-time favorite PC game. The music in this game was just fantastic... I remember digging around in the game's install files, long before the days of the mp3 (we're talking around '91 - '92 when the game originally came out!!), trying to isolate the music files so that I could play them on the PC outside of the game...

I would SERIOUSLY love to see a remake of this game! Thanks a ton to Serax for posting these links!!

well i like the melee music but not the hyperspace. I guess for me I just love to hear the (speaking in music-type terms) systhesizer pads bathing my ears with a little filter riding up or down. I used itunes to supplement the music for dominions 2 as well when the 3 songs there got old (that station was magnatune, just to give them some recognition..also in the 'ambient' section).
