How would I get through a proxy?

Help? Please?

I am currently at a university that uses proxies to get through to the internet and network. I tried to use Metaverse but everytime I try, it tells me that there is no connection available. Now, I know that there is one becasue I can surf the web whenever and I'm pretty sure that I cannot go in Metaverse due to the proxy. Is there an option somewhere that allows a proxy configuration or an option to automatically detect the proxy settings?

Cheers.

hey, I'm also having this problem. I can get to the internet seeing as I can see this site, but yeah, clicking on the metaverse button, it tells me i don't have an internet connection and need to check if it's plugged in. It's probably having to deal with the proxy that's the issue (yay military academies) so yeah, would be nice to know how to play a metaverse game if that's possible.

Thanks

I am also behind a University proxy server setup.. Stardock Central automatically detects the proxy settings I have defined for Internet Explorer, but Galciv2 doesn't seem to have that ability..

I always get a 'Cannot connect to the internet' message within game when I try connecting to the metaverse.

Would be great to have some feedback here if there is a workaround that I can use or if I'll have to wait for Stardock to add this one to there 'things to work on' list.

Otherwise Galciv2 is an awesome game and I'm loving playing it. Just wish I could use the metaverse.

Contact your Campus IT dept and see if they will open up an exception for the port in question. Not likely, but you can try.

Is there not a mechanism for submitting games to the MV without having a direct internet connection through the game itself? Like emailing in saves or something? Don't know - I don't metaverse.
