Map, Scenario & Campaign

Ok, just wanted to post something about this. I've been working on a Map, Scenario & Campaign editor for GalCiv2. I've managed to finish up the map and scenario editor so far. I haven't gotten into pulling the campaign details together to finish off that part of the program; but it will be in the future releases. I see this eventually becoming a full-blown mod manager/editor but lets not celebrate until we get there!

Also I'm hoping this will nudge the GalCiv2 people into giving me some more details on their XML formats, constant values for the XML (i.e. relation flags, event details for the scenario files, etc).

Basicly just wondering if this is something people would be interested in; if not I'm fine keeping it as my own personal GalCiv2 editor; but I do so like to share! How do you guys feel about this?

Here are some screen shots, keep in mind the scenario editior is still lacking features:

This is SO needed!!!

Thanks so much! I desperately need to design my own maps, not only because I love to, but also because the game always gives me many 0 planets and only 1 or 2 habitable planets per star system.
As if I set it to
Habitable Planets - Rare
Planets - Abundant
- but I haven't. It's set on
Habitable Planets - Abundant
Planets - Rare

Actually it doesn't matter what I settings I choose in the Galaxy setup, it's always screwed up like that
(I have the latest patch installed)

So I hope your editor will not only give me hours and hours of fun creating maps and scenarios, but also get rid of that Galaxy setup planet bug.

You know, I think GalCiv2 may be good. Let's call it great. GalCiv2 + a working editor is great squared by your imagination.

Well..nice job! This is exactly what I was looking for. You can add me to the growing list of those interested in this editor. I knew eventually someone with the know-how would do this...it was just a matter of time.

PS: Where will this be posted at so we can download it? Thanks again for the good work.

By the way, is there a random map generator in that? I kinda don't want to make each system. It'd be so cool if there was, then all i'd have to do is generate it randomly, then edit it.

So we're coming up on 48 hours since the promise of a link

I'm going to guess the creator is still having connection issues :/

Or worse, he'll change the release date to "When it's done"

Just as a bit of competition, I have started on a map editor as well. My skills are a bit rusty but I have the next two days off work so I have time to make up for it. It is a web based map editor using simple php and javascript which then outputs text for you to copy and paste into a map file to create your map. I've already started and it looks promising.

Not giving a release date as it will bring too many expectations
However, if the above editor is released before I finish mine, chances are I won't end up finishing my editor.

Okay, just finished the first batch of coding.
Basically lets you construct your universe. Then next I have to code in the translation to XML and allow XML maps to be imported. There are a few other things that need adding but I may even have this finished today or tomorrow. Anyway, its 2:41am and its time to get to bed.

Unfortunately, A lot of it has had to be programmed in Javascript to allow easier editing. This means the page takes a little while to load the first time (only noticable for maps with 10x10 sectors or more) and I can only guarentee that it will work in IE.

This looks pretty sweet. I've always wanted to play on a donut shaped map, where the civs can fight their way around the edge of the galaxy, or traverse the gaping void in the centre.
