Can you build multiple buildings on a tile?

For example I have a farm or a factory on a tile. I click on it, and it still lists a bunch of buildings I can build on this tile. I click on one and there is an orange icon on the upper right of the farm. Does this mean I can have multiple buildings on a tile?

The Starport can also have defensive buildings and a fleet manager?

You're just replacing the existing building with the new one.

One building per tile. You can demolish most buildings, save for trade goods and superprojects, to open that tile for a new building.

Which brings me to one of my few gripes with the game: Once you've built a tech, political, manufacturing, or economic capital, you're stuck with it for the entire game. If a better candidate pops up later in the game, sometimes I would like to be able to demolish one of these and build another elsewhere.

Are you allowed to demolish a capital? If you can, then you do so, then build a new capital. You would have a "Transition period", of not having a capital however.

I have two technological,manufacturing and economical capitals after invading one of the minor races' homeworld (class 15 to boot, yummy). Is that normal?

Yeah. It kinda sucks too since you can't build your own.

Nothing beats the surprise of capturing an economic capital on a class 5 world before you build your own. I swear the AI does it on purpose to spite me.
