Race specific design

Hello everybody,

i consider purchasing this game when it comes out in Germany. But i have a question:
I have read and seen that there are great possibilities with the ship designer but are there reace specific limitations? Or has every race the same parts to use?

I have read somewhere that there are existing basic designs - does every race has it´s own basic design or how many are there?

my English isn´t the very best so forgive me
Greetings from Munich

Most technologies can be researched by any race. There are some technologies that are only available to a Good, Evil or Neutral race though. Everyone gets to pick which alignment they want after a certain tech, once you do that you unlock a few alignment specific techs. Evil will have better weapons, Good will have better defense, Neutral will have something in the middle.

Well every race has different hulls to start with but they all use the same parts (jewlery).
The basic designs are just that - basic. It's just a hull with some systems slapped onto it. You'll be way better off designing your own ships as there are only very few basic designs. E.G. there aren't different basic designs for every new engine technology but I as a player tend to upgrade my ships with every tech advance. (I mean hey in the end better is better)
Your English is quite adequate by the way

This is not completely true because there are five types or race hulls human, drengin, altarian, torian, yor for now

Only the Hulls are different. Each race has a specific jewellery that fits it's style best, BUT you can choose it from any race, so it's a question of whether you want a big ugly piece of Yor machinery on a human ship. However, in the metaverse mod library, Darth Kyro made a mod that allows you to use any hull design by making them jewellery. This includes those extremely cool organic Dread Lord ships.
And just so you know, your English is actually better than some people on my street who were born here. It's also about a thousand times better than my German, and I've been speaking German since I was 11

To clarify, there are the nine starting races, but five starting hull styles to choose from. Each race has a default hull style and color, but this can be changed to any one of the five, and any color combination. In the ship creator you are restricted to the hull types of which ever style you chose at the beginning (of the five styles) though you can use the jewelery of any of the five styles on your particular hull type which was selected. So your ships theme is kind of dictated by which of the five types you chose. Though you can add so much jewelery to them that it is hard to see the original design underneath. I tend to mix jewelery from all five styles on whichever hull type I happen to be using for that game, and come up with my own look.

I went down the "digital download" road here at stardock. *g* Since it's vacation time I didn't want to wait until the 17th and figured a direct purchase would benefit stardock, whom I wish(ed) to support. Payed via PayPal and all went well. The download was something around 200-300 MB (without Videos & Media that is) and it's totally worth it.

My take on supporting outfits like Stardock is

Stardock supports its customer base so we its customers should suport them
