Score Calculation

Are there any good places to go and see how the game calculates your score?

I know there is a breakdown of what your score is at the end of the game, but it doesnt really say how you arrived at those scores, whether researching provides more points than production, how the map size and other options affect your score... even how the difficulty affects your score other than harder = more points.

I'm sure I just completely missed the detailed analysis on page 1.... hehehe.

Oh, forgot one more variable.... length of game.
I just ended a game very very quickly, thinking I would get brownie points for a fast victory.
I scored about half the points as I did the previous long drawn out game.... but then the fast victory was an alliance victory, so I guess that could have been the reason.

Anyone know where to go to find this stuff out?

As far as i can tell...

Game length - longer = more score.
Larger universes = more score
More techs researched (especially technological win) = more score
more galactictic achievements and special projects built = more score

difficulty setting ie: playing on suicidal doesn't seem to equal more score which i think is very unfair.
number of opponents doesnt seem to make make difference on score either.

Hmm... yes that does seem a bit backwards.... I should beat down everyone except the last planet of the last civ, then hit end turn repeatedly to make the game longer and thus increase my score?

It seems that if i defeat the enemy on turn 100 it would be more impressive, and thus more worthy of a good score, than if I win on turn 700....

The number of opponents and difficulty thing I agree with you 100% Higher difficulty should =higher score, more opponents should also = higher score.

Is there a definitive place where any of this is carved in stone?

Game calculates the score very pooly! If I can coquere 9 player tiny map in less than 3 years, I shoudl get a frikin heafty bonus. Instead I got 6k points.... Why would a longer war give you more poitns than a shorter war where you totally caught enemy off guard and kicked the hell out fo them!

I MEAN LESS THAN 3 YEARS, That's frikin brilliant on my part, the AI didn't know what hit them! I was everywhere at once and I won with conquest not influence! Now that is an achievement dammit!

While Im not quite as emotional about it, I completely agree.

It is more difficult to win quickly, and the score should reflect that.

Either way, I should would like to have a detailed explanation of the scoring system, isn't there one somewhere... anywhere?

Surely someone can point us to some logical explanation of the scoring system?

I hate to spam the topic, Ive been limiting it to once a day to keep it alive.

I know that someone has the answer, and I want the topic alive when they awaken from thier hibernation.
