Starbase Placement

Hi
I've been playing the game for a few days now and i'm really enjoying it. The one thing i'm a bit lost with is where to put my starbases. I'm ok with military ones and i know to place economic ones so that they are in range of my planets.
I was wondering if there is any benefit to haveing more than one starbase affecting a single planet?
The other issue is with influence starbases, i know to place them on my borders to affect other civ outlining planets. But should i have them affecting my planets ? ( all or just border worlds?)

Starbases' effects do stack, so clump them together if you think you need the extra bonuses.

Influence starbases raise the 'background influence' in their radius, so they can be used almost anywhere; Put them in deep space to expand your borders quickly where no-one else is at, put them near enemy planets to raise your influence over them and try to culture-flip them, or put them around your own planets if you're in danger of being flipped to an enemy's culture.

How about trade boosting starbases?

Given that the radius of the starbase influence is pretty small, and trade routes can be VERY long, are we supposed to line the traderoute with a string of starbases (and spend all our logistics points doing so)?

Also, does it mean we should have traderoutes only from one specific planet all going to another specific planet? (e.g. all from Earth going to Dratha) so that all the traderoutes will fall into the string of trade starbases we built?

It seems a very inefficient means of doing things and a waste a starbases. If you just build one trade starbase along one route, the time the freighter actually spends within the sphere of influence is very short...

I would just like it to be possible to see what range an (economic, military, influence) starbase will have before you build it, so I don't leave out a planet because I have to guess how far the circle around the starbase reaches.

Regarding circle of influence (range) i just quick save before placeing a starbase. It's a bit of a pain but better than nothing.
