okay, just wanna tell everyone what my strategy is and what i can improve on. here's what i do:
1) buy a factory on homeoworld and start crankin out colony ships and building more factories and morale boosties (50% M 50% S)
2) by the thime my second colony ship is built, i hae coloniized another planet with my first, i then colonize one or two more planets so i have 3 or 4 good colonies.
3) i thne shift all my money to Social, making factories and starports so i can crank out colony ships.
4) shift to 100% M and colonize as many planets as possible, when i find planets with manufacturing bonuses, i purchase factories immedietly.
5) after building more than enuff ships, i switch too 100% S and start developing my planets,
6) after a good start and a few reasearch buildings, i switch to 50% S and 50% R
