Stuck in Strategic view?

and what to do about it.

Hello and thanks for looking.

It seems to me I am stuck with nothing but the strategic icons when I am in map view. I can scroll in and out, and move my camera wherever, but the icons remain.

Looked thru the manual and there was no help to be found. Wne thru the first 6 pages of posts on here and found nothing. Hoping someone can help as that is pretty annoying.

Don't make me start playing WoW again!

Have you look in your options the level at which the strategic view is enabled?

No is not like that.


I've the same problem and is not the strategic view distance that matters cause i can see when the strategic view kicks in.


It is simple that, in normal space map, i do not see the planets, stars or detailed ships that the tutorial movies shows, but only a series of grey rings around planet, colorful rings around stars and the ships looks almost like wireframe models.


It is very annoying, all my video options are enabled.


I've a ATI Radeon X800 XL PCI-E and an athlon 64 3.0. The game runs smoothly... but i seems to be unable to see any of the cool 3d space mad stuff. just rings and bad ships.


Any help?

Andarion77, have a look here: Link - it should solve your issue.

But I don't think TheBigTea has the same problem, have you done what Peace Phoenix suggested? There's a slider called "tactical view zoom level" in the options - playing around with it might help.

A simple switch there in my control panel locale and now my graphics is shown properly.... go figures!
