Moon orbit

Moon orbit

...wrong direction

I just thought that I would point out that the orbit of the moon around Earth in GalCiv2 is in the incorrect direction. In reality, viewed down the rotational axis from the north pole, Earth's rotation is counter-clockwise and the orbit of the moon is counter-clockwise. In the game, the moon orbits clockwise around Earth. The counter-clockwise orbit is the reason why the moon rises approximately 50 minutes later each day - it takes the rotation of Earth that much time to 'catch up' with the progression of the orbit of the moon. Were Earth to stop rotating, the moon would actually rise in the west and set in the east.

Of course, this doesn't make a bit of difference to gameplay... I just thought people might want to know.

The biggest problem with the moons is there size. I mean, how damn hard could it be to have them show up on my monitor in actual size. This scaled down version is completly unacceptable. I know, it might take a little bit more memory, but really, how hard could it be!

There are textures on the planets? I always play in icon mode....

If you want pretty planets, download celestia. You'll never need a telescope again.

Personally I'm offended by the way that Stardock have excluded Pluto from the game. Taking such an obvious stance on the "is it or isn't it a planet" debate by deliberately erxcluding it, and brainwashing all of their customers is just disgusting.

This thread takes nerding to a whole new level! While we're at it, why don't we add hailey's comet, or the asteroid belt, or something? Then we'll make stars start going supernova and ships start using Newton's laws or whatever to slingshot around planets only to be incinerated by solar flares and stuff. Then we'll make ships randomly explode for no apparent reason cause lets face it, spaceships are complicated and these things happen!

I'm not flaming, I'm just having a good time! Add Pluto!

You know what else bugs me? When I can't find the droids I'm looking for!

Actually notice how almost all the outer planets are missing, including Uranus, though that could be because of it's name.

Oh and I'd love comets and asteroid belts as special areas of the map, though I doubt I'll get it.
